Myth: “Using a computer will permanently damage your eyes.”
Busted: Extended screen time can cause Digital Eye Strain or dry eyes because you blink less while looking at screens. To combat this, adopt the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Q: Why do I need my eyes dilated?
A: Dilation allows your eye doctor to see deep inside your eye, including the retina and optic nerve. This can help detect and diagnose serious eye diseases early—often before you notice any symptoms.

Myth: “Wearing glasses or contacts makes your eyes weaker.”

Busted: Corrective lenses do not change the physical structure of your eye or make eyes “dependent” on them. You may feel your vision is worse without them simply because you have gotten used to seeing clearly.

April Workplace Wellness Focus: Healthy Cooking 🥦🍳

At Appalachian Eye Care, we believe taking care of others starts with taking care of ourselves.

This month, our Workplace Wellness Program is all about healthy cooking, fueling our bodies with the kind of food that keeps us energized, focused, and ready to serve our patients at the highest level.

Healthy doesn’t have to mean complicated. Sometimes it’s as simple as:
✔️ Cooking more meals at home
✔️ Choosing fresh, whole ingredients
✔️ Cutting back on processed foods
✔️ Being mindful of what we’re putting on our plates

Because when we feel better, we do better, for our patients, our coworkers, and ourselves.

Let’s get after it. 💪
