https://healow.com/apps/provider/leonard-berkowitz-2748391 Because we understand that testosterone deficiency (TD) and erectile dysfunction (ED) have multifactorial causes, we screen and manage underlying issues such as unhealthy lifestyle and sedentarism, a poor diet, and obesity, as well as comorbidities such as diabetes (DM), cardiovascular disease (CVD), and high cholesterol. Center for Men’s Health, Providence (CMH) offers Testosterone Therapy (TTh) for males with Testosterone Deficiency (TD) and medical treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED). Both TD and ED are widespread conditions in males, a worldwide phenomenon. Although there are a multitude of causes and contributing factors, TD and ED are routinely overlooked or undertreated. Without treatment or proper therapy, respectively, TD and ED continue to negatively impact not only a male’s quality of life, but also the relationship they share with their partners (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK562253/.) We differentiate ourselves from other providers in the Providence, Rhode Island market based on the following areas:
1. We take a compassionate and supportive approach to each patient as we guide them through the entire patient experience and course of treatment.
2. We communicate is English, Spanish, and Portuguese, often appealing to individuals and communities who are often culturally reluctant to discuss such sensitive topics as Low T and ED, and whose first language may be a barrier to healthcare.
3. We approach each patient as a whole entity, factoring in mental and emotional wellbeing, dietary and lifestyle habits, personal relationships, job satisfaction, and quality of life.
4. We are a bridge that connects primary care, urology, and andrology under one roof as we screen, treat, and manage not only TD and ED, but also secondary conditions and comorbidities, without the necessity to refer a patient to another provider. However, we also refer to appropriate specialists as the need arises, working collaboratively with PCPs and specialists.
5. CMH is not simply a one-dimensional “T clinic”, but rather a comprehensive medical practice that offers innovative therapies for men with TD and/or ED, as well as the screening and management of other conditions and comorbidities as noted above.
6. We have developed a protocol for the novel treatment of SWT, used in the successful treatment of ED, and continue to research how SWT may improve urinary symptoms for those suffering from BPH (studies ongoing).
7. We have created a training and certification program for practitioners who would like to offer SWT to their respective patients.
8. CMH recognizes the reality of financial hardship as a barrier to healthcare access. A reduced cash-based fee schedule will be implemented to address the uninsured, underinsured, and those experiencing financial insecurity. We feel very strongly that financial circumstances should not preclude access to medical care.
9. To remain up-to-date and on the innovative forefront of men’s health, we will continue to conduct research and clinic trials in order to (1) improve the treatment options and outcomes for our patients, and (2) present and publish our findings in peer-reviewed medical journals and periodicals.
10. In Rhode Island, there are no clinics that offer the same level of experience and expertise in the area of Men’s Health, nor practices that offer the wide range of products and services available at CMH.
11. Together, Len Berkowitz, PA-C and Jose Bolanos, MD have more than 20 years of professional healthcare experience and have conducted numerous clinical trials, performed data analyses, and have published their findings in Medical Journals (see Appendix for our CV’s)
