Loyalty can mean many different things because no two people are walking through the exact same season of life.
Some people are raising children. Some are caring for aging parents. Some are navigating grief, healing old wounds, rebuilding after loss, trying to stay afloat, or simply learning how to breathe again after difficult chapters.
We often view loyalty through our own experiences and expectations. We may think loyalty means always being present, always checking in, always showing up in the same ways we would. But life has a way of teaching us that loyalty can look different depending on the phase someone is in.
Sometimes loyalty is a phone call.
Sometimes it’s silent support.
Sometimes it’s prayers.
Sometimes it’s giving someone grace while they work through their own storm.
As I continue helping people emotionally and spiritually, I’ve learned that perspective matters. Everyone is carrying something we may not see. Not every season allows people to give from a full cup.
Maybe the lesson is not just asking, “Who is loyal?” but also asking, “What season are they surviving, healing, or growing through?”
Offer grace. Lead with compassion. Extend understanding.
You never fully know what chapter someone is trying to make it through.
