Hello,

As some of you know, I was injured in a car accident and have been searching for medical answers for over 2 years.

On 6/2/25 I saw a neurologist (Dr. Cheng) at the MGH facial pain center. I was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury from the accident. Many of my disabling symptoms, such as inability to turn head, move or talk quickly without creating nausea, dizziness, chronic head and neck pain, vision disruptions, brain fog, disorientation, memory issues, loss of sensation, sight and sound sensitivity, metal taste, are from the TBI. This diagnosis has explained many of my symptoms. However, it is a lot to come to terms with, and the late diagnosis is frustrating.

Over the past 2.9 months there have made strides, but I am still missing the one diagnosis for my throat pain. There were multiple injuries to my head and neck, with many symptoms, requiring multiple diagnoses, some rare. It has been extremely confusing. I’ve seen over 30 physicians. Many appointments are at least a 2 month wait. I cannot proceed with any further surgical treatment until that is diagnosed. This is the next and hopefully last step. My full diagnosis is slowly becoming clear, but new treatments and the possibility of any relief is on hold.

Thank you for all your donations. You all have saved me the past few months. If you have already donated, please don’t feel the need to donate again. I appreciate you so much. Instead, and if you are able, I would truly appreciate if you shared my Gofundme link with friends and on social media. Disability has yet to approve my case, but doctors have disabled me. The approval process could take 1-2 years. Once approved, I will be working with MassAbility to find a part time job that I may be able to physically handle. I also plan to pursue learning opportunities to change careers, as my brain will allow. Unfortunately, It’s physically impossible for me to work a full time job right now. Thank you so much for your love and support through this time.

Full Diagnose as of 6/5/25 below:

1.Traumatic brain injury
2.Severe whiplash/soft tissue damage/reversal of the cervical or lordosis, which turned into kyphosis. Cervical spine deformity.
3.The cervical spine deformity caused:
a. Eagle syndrome. Compression on jugular/strangulation(returned).
b. Compressed esophagus.
c. Impingement on C6 C8 nerve roots. Cervical radiculopathy d. Worsened spinal stenosis to severe. e. Flattened spinal cord. Cervical myelopathy
*misdiagnosed occipital neuralgia
Future appointments:
EMG June 30th
Neurosurgery consult TBD in July waiting on insurance prior authorization.

Thank you for all your love and support,
Gina

I use to wonder what was wrong with me. The younger me would always read descriptions of mental disorders hoping to be able to truly relate to one. Only the criteria described was never what I was experiencing. I couldn’t put a label on the distress I felt on a daily basis. The very first time I understood the word “empath” was not that long ago. I had heard and even used the word “empathy” and “empathetic” many many times during my lifetime, however, I did not realize there was an entire tribe of people who lived and breathed this quality just like me. Almost anyone can be empathetic in a certain situation, but empaths typically can’t turn it off. When I dove deeper into my spiritual practices, I found there was an explanation for the intense emotion I had felt my entire life, and I was finally able to understand the madness I had lived.

An empath is a person with the ability to absorb and understand the experiences and feelings of others outside of their own perspective. They feel emotions as if it is part of their own experience, and have fine tune senses. This a pretty cool and interesting trait, but the absorption of other people’s energy can be draining, overwhelming and create confusion. Too much energy in one room, or from one person, can deeply affect the empath. It is often difficult to differentiate between what is their energy and what is someone else’s. Experiences like this lead to an extreme amount of stress, anxiety, shame, and sometimes mental instabilities. They often feel misunderstood and are emotionally vulnerable, but Empath trait is a gift when accepted and connected, and in a world where so many people struggle to connect to their emotions, the empath can be a superpower.

The path of an empath is not always easy. It is a rollercoaster ride when some of your sensations and energy you feel is not your own. Empowering your empath gift is more accessible than you may think. There is an abundance of tools and insight within yoga, meditation, and other mindful practices. If you think you may be an empath, or if you know of someone that may be, absolutely check out my Empath Workshop on April 11th from 1-3 at Release Well-Being Center.

I am over the moon to bring my meditation workshop, “Sit Still”, back to Release Well-Being. Being able to create a home meditation practice has positively impacted my life in every way imaginable. I was once lost in my messy, anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, chaotic mind. Self-destruction was a consistent pattern. Things began to shift when I became aware of the madness in my mind. The clarity, focus, compassion, and peace this practice has brought me is priceless. It’s given me a deep appreciation and understanding of who I truly am and where I want to be. My hope is that I can help others who are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, or just looking to flow a little easier in life.

The process of unlearning our conditioned existence and redirecting the mind to see clearly and honestly works with consistent “practice”. I believe in the process wholeheartedly and I am so excited to share this workshop with as many people as possible!! I hope to see you there!!

*Sundays February 21st, 28th, and March 2nd from 11:30-12:30 at Release Well-Being Center Westborough Ma. $64 for entire workshop.

*only 6 in person spots left, virtual spaces also available
