Now comes the flu season. It is now reported as "Moderate" severity in Massachusetts for influenza cases.
Most healthy people recover from the flu without complications. If you get the flu:
*Stay home from work or school.
*Get lots of rest, drink plenty of liquids, and avoid using alcohol and to***co.
*If you have asthma, with signs of first cough, you should stay on top of using inhalers for asthma control as directed by your MD.
*If you are sick with a bad cough, fever, diarrhea, or not feeling well, please skip the OIT dose. And let us know when you are ready to resume the dose.
*There are over-the-counter medications to relieve the symptoms of the flu (but never give aspirin to children or teenagers who have flu-like symptoms, particularly fever). Also won't suggest using ibuprofen with OIT dose which may cause GI issues.
*Consult your doctor early on for the best treatment, but also be aware of emergency warning signs that require urgent medical attention.
