Motherhood is the most insanely difficult and beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced. My own journey has been filled with so much worry and guilt and heaviness, mixed with pure happiness, adoration, and love. I watch women bring life into the world with that same awe and adoration because it’s truly the most amazing thing to be a part of and I’m so very grateful that my life’s work has led me here to a place where celebrating mothers from all backgrounds, creeds, and experiences is something I get to do everyday. Happy Mothers Day to all of our clients past and present. Thank you for the honor of being a small part of your journeys ❤️

All of the births I(Jess) have the honor of attending are precious and miraculous every single time, but this family is truly something special to me. This made baby number 4 for this sweet fam, and I have been truly honored to be by mom’s side. This last one came in a fury(10 minutes after arriving at the hospital)but is the sweetest guy and it’s been so incredibly precious to be able to watch this family grow in the most incredible of ways!

I love every single thing about birthing a baby on all fours! It’s not always the best position for everyone, and sometimes circumstances make certain positions not as possible, but when the stars align and preferences are supported, it’s one of the most conducive positions for ease, less risk of tearing, and overall it reduces pushing time! It was an honor to watch this sweet fella come into the world. It’s always such an honor 🥰

Shewwwwww! Where did November go?! We have had such a busy month helping babies into the world and then helping families adjust to life as new parents! It’s been such an honor and privilege. This guy started out our Thanksgiving week as baby number 1 of 3 for the week, and today I got to see him at home which just brings everything full circle 😍 we ended the month welcoming 8 new babies and it’s just been so wonderful and fun! So very much to be Thankful for here at Oak + Valley and we are just so very grateful for the opportunity we get to continue doing what we love by supporting these incredible families ❤️

Sometimes we have to pivot in the birth world and babies decide that joining us on the outside sooner is their preference- the case for this sweet family. When mom’s blood pressure kept creeping up, and baby refused to flip to the head down position, the decision for a c-section was made at 37 weeks! We were by families side the whole step of the way- making sure we created goals and preferences for their c-section or as I like to call it a sun-roof exit, and helping them advocate for their goals! Baby made it into the world happy and healthy! Congrats to the W family on their most precious new addition! We were so honored to be a part of this journey!

What can we do for you during postpartum?! Honestly the list is endless! Some big things we like to support families with at first is just believing in themselves as new parents! Giving them confidence in areas like feeding, bathing, soothing and safety areas. Then as they become more secure, we often support rest, household help, light meal prep, emotional and mental support, and helping gain access and resources for anything outside of our realm that families may need! We are walking beside you to help you enjoy the joys of becoming a new parent that can oftentimes be overshadowed by the fears and frustrations of the unknowns! Truly we are here for you in every way! So reach out! Let us support you during this amazing time!

Y’all- spring has sprung and we are so busy here at Oak + Valley getting these new babies earthside and making sure our families are the most supported when they bring them home. I’ve never wanted to do anything more in life than what I get to do every single day working with all the incredible people we get the honor of supporting. This new fella came into the world last week and is just the sweetest new addition to our Oak + Valley fam! Birth and postpartum isn’t designed to do alone. Happy World Doula Week! Being a birth worker is truly all I know and my entire passion! I love supporting families in the birth space and helping them feel more confident caring for this precious new life! I’ll spend the rest of my life dedicating my work to helping families and I am so honored to get to be surrounded in my work by other incredible doulas who have gone before me and set an example and those who I get the privilege of leading and guiding! One of my favorite things in postpartum work is getting to see a new mom or dad gain confidence in caring for their new baby. Newborns have always been interesting to me, and since I can remember learning and gaining insight on their nuances and development has been my passion, and then being able to help a new mom or dad navigate this oftentimes intimidating journey, has been so incredibly rewarding! This mamma is rocking baby wearing and that smile on her face makes it all worth it ❤️
