Y’all- spring has sprung and we are so busy here at Oak + Valley getting these new babies earthside and making sure our families are the most supported when they bring them home. I’ve never wanted to do anything more in life than what I get to do every single day working with all the incredible people we get the honor of supporting. This new fella came into the world last week and is just the sweetest new addition to our Oak + Valley fam! Birth and postpartum isn’t designed to do alone. Happy World Doula Week! Being a birth worker is truly all I know and my entire passion! I love supporting families in the birth space and helping them feel more confident caring for this precious new life! I’ll spend the rest of my life dedicating my work to helping families and I am so honored to get to be surrounded in my work by other incredible doulas who have gone before me and set an example and those who I get the privilege of leading and guiding! Thank you to all of our incredible families for trusting us to go on this journey with you! ❤️

One of my favorite things in postpartum work is getting to see a new mom or dad gain confidence in caring for their new baby. Newborns have always been interesting to me, and since I can remember learning and gaining insight on their nuances and development has been my passion, and then being able to help a new mom or dad navigate this oftentimes intimidating journey, has been so incredibly rewarding! This mamma is rocking baby wearing and that smile on her face makes it all worth it ❤️

When you are freshly postpartum and the world is spinning around you, it can feel heavy and overwhelming and confusing. Questions like,”What do I do next, how do I even hold this tiny little newborn thats been placed on my chest, does he need to eat, etc” can leave you feeling a little intimidated. As your birth doula I want to eliminate some of that intimidation. I want to stay by your side and revel in your new baby with you and help you feel okay when it can feel a bit chaotic in the moments after getting your baby into the world, I want to congratulate you on the amazing job you just did, and I want to support you in next steps. Sometimes that’s helping partner do skin to skin so you can get some food, sometimes that’s lifting baby up and helping you get more comfortable, and sometimes it’s helping you begin your breastfeeding journey if that is one of your goals! Most importantly I’m there to reassure you and to remind you of the power and strength you possess so that you feel more sturdy in the days that follow! These births, every single one of them, are an honor for me to be able to join and I’m grateful every single time for those precious moments postpartum when I get to be there with you as you officially welcome this new baby into your world! Thank you, to all of my amazing clients for affording me the opportunity to be with you in this incredible journey!

What a fun night and turnout we had for our dad’s support group! We had lots of support to care for the babes and dads got to hang out, chat, and hit golf balls! Thanks to everyone that came out tonight- we cannot wait until the next one :)

N.A.D.S- Are you a new dad or soon to be new dad and feel like you could use some insight from those in the same walk of life? Or would you just like to hang out and hit some golf balls and grab a drink while having experts on hand to answer all your new parent questions? Well if you said yes to any of those then come out on January 31st and join our dad’s only support group, and bring the babies! All we ask is that you RSVP so we can get an accurate head count! You can do that by texting (828) 719-6865! This is our first event of the year so this one is completely free of charge! We will have membership offers available for you to check out at this event! So come, shoot some golf balls, have a drink or a snack or both, and chat with dads going through a similar journey, and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

This babe came into the world last week with one of my amazing teammates, but I got the pleasure of doing their follow up postpartum visit and she is such a cutie! We do a lot of teamwork around here to help make sure our families are well cared for.
