Kennedy is currently 11 years old and has undergone 18 surgeries in her short life -- major dental surgery, receiving/expanding a titanium rib, BAHA implant, T&A, ear reconstruction, shoulder blade placement, titanium rib removal, and now a prosthetic ear (as reconstruction failed miserably twice). Surgeries t
hat are on the table in the future include further Smile Surgery, neck surgery, and a possible spinal fusion. On a daily basis she struggles with being almost blind in one eye, being legally deaf (although hears quite well with her BAHA!), lower lung capacity than a normal child, migraines, back pain due to scoliosis, constant sinus infections from malformed sinus cavities, and speech issues due to facial paralysis and hearing loss. As you can imagine, this is a lot for one kid to go through. And as she gets older, it gets harder on her psyche. She's a tough kid, she's strong, and she will make it far in life. But in the meantime, she can use all the support she can get!
