May is Maternal Mental Health Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. Did you know:

1 in 5 Moms and 1 in 10 Dads suffer from postpartum depression

🚨 These numbers are likely wildly underreported. Even if you’ve lived the perfect life, pregnancy is a transformative experience. Along with an OB provider, a chiropractor, and a pelvic floor therapist, a mental health provider should be on your care team as well 💕

To break the stigma, I support families as a postpartum doula. I’m also not afraid to share my experience with postpartum rage when I weaned my son.

As an IBCLC, I screen all of my clients for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and refer them out as appropriate.

Simply talking about mental health, specifically in the perinatal period helps to

It is the last day of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week. As an IBCLC and a postpartum doula, I am one of the most frequent touch points a birthing family has in the first 6 weeks of life. Often times, this relationship is well established already through prenatal conversation. While not a mental health professional, I am able to note the signs of postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety and postpartum OCD. Often we are the ones helping the family to access care.

Many new moms say that they feel like they are "in a fog" and are too overwhelmed to even realize that they are not feeling like themselves or to seek help.

When you have additional postpartum help, we can help connect you to online and local resources. We can listen to how you're feeling. We can help you reach out to loved ones for help. Postpartum doulas can focus on dishes and laundry so that you can focus on healing. We can care for baby so you can nap and shower. IBCLCs can simplify your lactation plan.

If you are looking for resources on Perinatal Mood Disorders like Depression, Anxiety and OCD check out .

You are not alone.

Hey Y’all! 👋🏽 I took a small social media hiatus recently. I hope everybody is doing well. 2025 has been a wild ride already, and it just began. That said, it also feels like time is flying - we are halfway through Q1 of the year!

For the first half of the year, I’m knocking births out left and right but also hoping to focus more on lactation support since it’s sincerely lacking in this area. I am in network with most insurances - contact me today via the website if you’re in need of support.

What’s one thing you’re working on this quarter? Simply ✨surviving✨ is a fine answer too - let me know in the comments below! ⏬
