Please take care of your mental health today and the rest of this week!

Election season can be overwhelming, sparking tension that we feel not just mentally but physically. Stress about the future, heightened media exposure, and constant updates can leave us feeling drained and on edge. Here are some practical ways to help your body manage this stress and stay balanced:

1. Grounding Practices
- Connect with Your Environment: Take a few moments to notice the sensations in your feet as they touch the floor, or engage in sensory exercises like naming five things you can see, four you can touch, and so on. Grounding brings you back to the present and reduces anxiety.

2. Limit Media Exposure
- Set Boundaries:Constantly absorbing news can elevate stress hormones. Try to check updates at specific times rather than staying continuously plugged in. It helps your nervous system rest and recalibrate.

3. Practice Deep Breathing
- Simple Breathing Exercises: Breathe in deeply for a count of four, hold for four, then exhale for four. Deep breathing stimulates the vagus nerve, which can help calm your fight-or-flight response.

4. Take Movement Breaks
- Get Up and Move: Whether it’s a quick stretch, a short walk, or a workout, movement helps release tension and improve mood. Physical activity allows the body to release pent-up energy, supporting resilience.

5. Stay Connected to Your Support System
- Talk It Out: Share your feelings with friends, family, or a supportive community. Discussing your concerns in a supportive environment can help you feel more grounded and less alone.

6. Sleep and Hydrate
- Basic Self-Care: Stress can interfere with sleep, so prioritize good sleep hygiene (limit screen time before bed, stick to a schedule). Drinking water is also essential to keep your body’s systems functioning optimally.

Let’s take small steps to support our bodies and minds through this time. Remember, taking care of yourself isn’t just about managing stress—it’s about maintaining a sense of calm and clarity to help you feel empowered, no matter the outcome.
