There is no deadline to healing. Some things to remember in your journey:

Healing is a personal journey. It's not a race or a destination but a unique path each person travels at their own tempo.

It's unpredictable. Some days feel like progress, while others bring pain or setbacks - and that's normal! You are right on time because self-work doesn't follow a schedule.

Self-compassion is critical. Show yourself grace for feeling pain or not being "over it" yet. Celebrate all progress, no matter how small.

Trust the process! Healing requires patience and dedication to yourself.

Taking a break from the news is a healthy and necessary step to manage the anxiety and stress that can come from a constant flow of negative and sensationalized information. Excessive news consumption is linked to increased anxiety and depression. A constant news cycle keeps the brain in a state of high alert. It is great being informed, but take time to disconnect!

National Working Parents Day is observed September 16th each year, to honor devoted parents who balance careers and families. We acknowledge the unique challenges faced by working parents, like managing childcare, finances, and the emotional and physical toll of juggling work and home life. Today we celebrate their perseverance in providing for their families and still being able to contribute to society.

As the weather cools down, please be proactive in managing Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) aka Seasonal Depression. There are fewer hours of daylight in the Fall and Winter months, which makes this type of depression solely related to changes in seasons.

This Labor Day give yourself permission to slow down and enjoy simple pleasures like a leisurely walk, binge-watching your favorite tv show, or spending time with loved ones. Today is meant to be a chance to recharge and honor the contribution of workers by pausing from the stress of daily labor. Also, try restorative activities like stretching, meditation, or spending time in nature to help your body and mind recover.

Children only learn to regulate the emotions they are allowed to have. Children learn to manage emotions by first experiencing them and being given safe, validating spaces to process them. Forcing a child to suppress or "shut down" feelings, rather than allowing them to be felt and understood, can lead to emotional numbing rather than true regulation.

It's essential to allow children to feel all emotions, even "negative" ones like anger or sadness. This teaches them that emotions themselves are not inherently bad, and their job is to find healthy ways to express them.
