Traffickers count on silence.
Children count on us.
Human trafficking thrives in silence because silence hides patterns, protects perpetrators, and keeps victims unseen.

But when even one person speaks up, everything changes.
Reporting suspicious behavior isn’t about accusation. It’s about protection, awareness, and giving a child a chance at safety.

At Magdalena’s Daughters, we believe that community vigilance saves lives. Your voice matters more than you know.
If you see something concerning, say something, share this to increase awareness!

When we look back at this year, we see impact everywhere.
Youth gaining confidence through hands-on workshops.
Hundreds coming together at our 4th Annual Human Trafficking Walk.
Our Executive Director taking the TEDx stage.
A film project that will spark awareness.
A digital RAISE curriculum that will reach more youth.
And meaningful interviews that move us closer to building the RAISE the Roof Village.

This is what progress looks like.
This is what hope looks like.
And this is what community makes possible.

Thank you for helping us protect and empower the youth who need us most.

The common age a child enters s*x trafficking is 14 to 16, an age where their brains, identities, and sense of safety are still developing.

But instead of protecting them, society often misnames their exploitation as “prostitution.”

That language hides the crime.
It hides the trafficker.
And it blames the child.

Call it what it is: s*x trafficking.
Because naming the truth is the first step in ending it.

A Sacramento man was sentenced to 10 years for conspiring to traffic an 18-year-old in San Diego, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. A man who brought an 18-year-old woman to San Diego for the purpose of s*xually trafficking her was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison.

Darrell Davis, 22, of Sacramento, brought the victim to San Diego so she could earn money for him as a pr******te and posted s*x advertisements online that featured the victim, according to prosecutors.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said the victim originally met Davis when she was 17.

She later was working for him six days a week, and up to 10 to 14 hours per day, and the money she earned went to Davis, who tracked the victim electronically through a tracking app, prosecutors said.

A sentencing memorandum filed by federal prosecutors states the woman also reported being physically abused by Davis, including during one occasion in which "she was making efforts to get away from Mr. Davis."
Another time, she gave him $500 as a "partial exit fee" so she could stop working as a pr******te and return home, the memorandum states.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said the woman contacted police in January 2023, and Davis was arrested the following day outside a Chula Vista hotel. Upon his arrest, a ledger was discovered that indicated the victim's prostitution earnings, while another ledger showed earnings from two other women who worked for Davis, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Davis pleaded guilty to a federal count of conspiracy to commit s*x trafficking.

Two men in Greenville County, South Carolina, have been charged in connection with a human trafficking investigation, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
On Monday, SLED charged 46-year-old Kamal Surinder Desor with trafficking in persons - victim under 18 years of age.

As part of the investigation, SLED also charged 45-year-old Detrick Lamar Stenhouse with trafficking in persons - victim under 18 years of age on Oct. 20.
Officials said at the time of Stenhouse’s arrest, he was already serving a sentence on unrelated drug charges in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

The Greenville Police Department requested SLED to investigate.
According to an arrest warrant, on Jan. 20, Stenhouse obtained a 16-year-old knowing that the minor would be subjected to s*x trafficking. Stenhouse and Desor facilitated commercial s*x acts to occur with the minor in Simpsonville.

Another arrest warrant states that on April 2, Desor knowingly solicited and engaged in s*x acts with the victim.
Desor was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center under the trafficking charge and a prostitution charge.
Stenhouse remains in the South Carolina Department of Corrections. He was convicted of distributing methamphetamine, failure to stop for law enforcement and possession of co***ne.

The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
SLED said these two arrests were made in connection with SLED's arrest of Brooke Elizabeth-Louise Foster in June.

New reports suggest Meta aware adults contacted minors across Facebook and Instagram and failed to respond urgently. The disclosures highlight major Meta child safety concerns that critics say should have triggered stronger protections much earlier. According to internal documentation and investigative findings, Meta reportedly had data showing millions of adults initiating conversations with minors across its platforms. Safety experts say the evidence was alarming, and the numbers alone should have resulted in stronger safeguards and immediate action.

The leaked material paints a troubling picture. Analysts claim the company had clear visibility into adult-to-child contact patterns at massive scale, yet warnings were met with slow internal movement instead of urgent intervention. For parents and child safety advocates, the failure to escalate the issue raises questions about whether Meta prioritized growth and engagement over user protection.

Meta insists that it continues to expand safety features, invest in AI technology, and build tools to identify harmful behavior more effectively. However, critics argue that if Meta aware adults contacted minors long before the story reached the public, the company should be holding itself to much higher standards.

Child safety organizations say this moment marks a turning point. They believe the industry needs stronger regulation, transparency, and accountability, especially from companies with Meta’s size and influence. The findings also deepen broader Meta child safety concerns as lawmakers look to impose stricter online protections for minors.

Lawmakers say the revelations around Meta aware adults contacted minors could lead to new federal regulations. Some propose mandatory reporting rules for platforms, while others push for independent audits of online safety tools. Meta says it welcomes conversations about improving child safety online, but critics argue the company only responds when public pressure becomes impossible to ignore.

The modern trafficker doesn’t need to be physically present — they only need access to a device.

Data shows that 67.3% of s*x trafficking cases involved technology, proving that exploitation now thrives in digital spaces as much as physical ones.

Understanding this shift is key: prevention starts with awareness of how traffickers truly operate today.

Every youth deserves a safe, stable place to call home. Yet, too many are facing the harsh reality of homelessness, with no shelter and no support. This Youth Homelessness Awareness Month, we come together to raise our voices, spread awareness, and stand up for those whose voices are often unheard.

At Magdalena's Daughters, we are committed to providing hope, healing, and a family-like environment through our RAISE THE ROOF PROJECT. This initiative is dedicated to creating safe homes for homeless youth, offering them not only shelter, but the tools they need to thrive.

Together, we can make a difference. By supporting RAISE THE ROOF, you help provide the foundation for a brighter future, where no youth has to face homelessness alone. Let's build a world where every young person has the opportunity to grow, heal, and live with dignity.
