I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge that I have been fairly quiet on my Pause with Yoga, Meditation and Sound Healing page. The past several months have brought some heavy moments for my family and personal challenges that have required healing. As you know, yoga and meditation teach us to pause, breathe, and honor where we are in each moment. Recently, I've needed to lean into that very practice that I teach. While I've recently returned to my teaching schedule, when life settles a bit more, I look forward to reconnecting with you on this page. In the meantime, please remember to be gentle with yourselves, take a deep breath, and find peaceful moments in each day. ๐งโโ๏ธโจ
With gratitude and love.

It's a new year and a fresh start! I've been thinking of what nourishes me and what brings me joy. I've been honored to facilitate a meditation group in Norton for the past 2 years. Remarkably, the group has grown from just a few to over 20 participants! Being able to create space for wellness in something that nourishes me. Connecting with like-minded people with shared values brings me joy. I've been thinking about offering weekly donation-based meditations to my community at large. I have seen first hand the benefits of this practice and know that wellness begins within. Donation-based meditation means the practice is open to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Contributions are voluntary and help support the continuation of the offering. Is this something of interest to you? Please feel free to share this post with others. In connection and wellness, Linda

Here's a few moves thanks to Abi Mills Yoga that you can do right at home if you have stairs. Movement meets you where you are at - no destination is required!

A little bit more about Linda!
What was your first yoga class like:
When I was almost 40 years old, I attended my first yoga class at the local YMCA. The teacher, Ann, was very welcoming and helpful in her teaching style. I remember she had us place our mats in a circle, while she demonstrated the poses from the center. I left the class feeling relaxed and knew that I would be returning.
What made you decide to teach yoga?
After several years of practicing yoga, I noticed that not only did I feel good physically, I found improved ways too understand my emotions and to connect with other areas in my life. I remember wishing that I had been exposed to yoga years earlier. I became passionate about the benefits of yoga and wanted to share my love of yoga and its personal journey with others. In 2011, I received my first certification in YogaFit; in 2012 became a 200 hour certified yoga teacher through Open Doors Yoga Studios; and in 2019, I completed my 300 hour teacher training through InnerGlow Yoga Studios as well as a meditation teacher trainings through the Boston Buddha - Meditation for Everyone. In 2020, I enrolled in a second meditation teacher training with the School of Positive Transformation.
What is your favorite yoga pose and why?
While there are several poses that I love, my all time favorite is Savasana. To me, this pose provides permission to take a pause from the stressors of every day life. Learning to โjust beโ for the several minutes of Savasana is a powerful tool. I love how I emerge feeling calm yet stronger and ready to start anew.
What other workouts or activities do you enjoy and why?
Over the past six years, I have mostly practiced yoga only, and in 2019, I returned to a fitness center for weight lifting and aerobic activity. One of my favorite workouts is kickboxing as it leaves me feeling confident and fierce. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends whether it be an activity or just sharing some smiles and laughter. Some activities I love are hiking for its connection with nature; kayaking for the freedom of being out on the open water; and stargazing because looking at the vast universe helps me keep things into perspective.
Currently I teach at Open Doors and this is why I love it!
I love teaching at Open Doors Yoga Studios - Taunton and East Bridgewater because of the community (or as I like to say our tribe) created by Marilva and Mike Wedge. The students and teachers are amazing! We were all brought together through a common bond and have received so much more than just a space to practice. I am grateful for the friendships that have developed, the kindness that is shared, and the overall feeling of being at โhome.โ
