Hey, I have a question: What is your body for?

One of the intentions of is to help people access a healing experience of the body.

Many of us treat our bodies like a decorative object or a performance machine, like something that needs to be managed in a very serious and rigid way. It can be those things - God knows we live in a very superficial world that is obsessed with controlling and taming the body and makes a lot of money by instilling insecurity about the body.

What if instead we can experience the body as the sacred home we live in, as a conduit to personal power and pleasure and expression and joy?

As the founder of and a woman raised in LA who has practiced as a psychotherapist here for my entire career, I love the moment when this switch flips on for people in a session.

I love when their relationship to movement transcends mundane societal expectation. I love when it expands to become a metaphor for power, when the body becomes a conscious embodiment and expression of how they feel that helps them move through what's been making them suffer mentally and has been holding them back. When they stop punishing the body and seeing it with awe and respect. When they realize their body is their biggest ally.

Do you ever feel like you don't know where you're heading? 👀 you should know this...

It's normal and okay. 💕

The "right" path for your life is the one you create, one step at a time. It's not a straightforward one. Sometimes you double back, sometimes you go in circles for a while. ⭕

Take a step, then another step, paying attention all the time. Keep moving and you will find your way. 🗺️

It's always a short walk or run or [insert type of movement] from one feeling state to another even better one! 🥰

Will movement fix all your problems? No - but it'll help your mind get in a state where you can start to create solutions.💡

RUN WALK TALK® THERAPIST TRACKING 👟
AKA When your friend's metaphor doesn't land because it's your job.

"Tracking" is a kind of paying attention during a therapy session. And in a therapy session, tracking gets way more complex and richer, because you're moving with your client, usually outdoors, for an extended period of time - there's so much more to pay attention to and your own body is working hard moving in the session, especially if you're running.

We talk a lot about tracking in the Run Walk Talk® Certification course because it's a big part of the work - and we keep talking about it in our group consultation calls which are included for a while when you get certified, because training of all kinds takes a while to really integrate. Moving your body forward as the scenery changes (so, outdoors) reduces anxiety. (It works for wheelchair users and bicyclists, too.) 🛞
