✨ Sharing easy tips to keep your kids’ teeth healthy

Every pediatric dentist has had this moment…
A parent comes in after being told online or in a mom group that they could “reverse” their child’s cavity with a natural or holistic remedy… and by the time we see them, there’s an actual hole in the tooth.

Let me clarify something important.
I love prevention.I love remineralization. There are absolutely ways to strengthen enamel and help early cavities slow down or even reverse when they’re caught very early. And I share those with my patients as well.

But once a cavity has progressed to the point where there is a hole in the tooth, the lost tooth structure does not grow back. At that point, the goal becomes treating the cavity and stopping it from getting bigger or causing pain or infection.

Supportive habits are great.Accurate information matters even more.

👇 Curious what parents are hearing out there…Have you seen people claim cavities can be reversed naturally?

Save this (and follow me ) for the next time someone tells you cavities with holes can magically reverse.

Deep breaths.Shoulders down. You are not being chased by wildlife.
You’re just about to brush a tiny human’s teeth who suddenly has the strength and flexibility of an Olympic gymnast. 🫠

If bedtime brushing feels like a full-body sport, you’re not alone. As a pediatric dentist + mom of two… I still have to hype myself up some nights.

Here’s what actually makes it easier:
✔️ Brush before they’re overtired. Don’t wait until they’re melting down.✔️ Lay them down. (On the floor, couch, or bed.) It gives you better visibility and control.✔️ Give them a “job.” Let them hold a toothbrush, stuffed animal, or your phone flashlight.✔️ Sing the same short song every night. Predictability = less resistance.✔️ Stay calm and confident. The calmer your nervous system is, the faster it’s over.
Reminder: it’s okay if they don’t love it. You’re the parent. Oral hygiene isn’t optional — even if it comes with dramatic protests.
We’ve got this. One deep breath at a time. 💛
If you’re in the thick of toddler bedtime battles, follow along — I’m a pediatric dentist + busy mom who believes healthy habits don’t have to feel impossible.

I’m going to be honest.
Most toddlers I see are brushing with 3–4x the amount of toothpaste they actually need.
And I get it. We think:
More foam = more clean
Tiny smear = not enough
But for babies and toddlers under 3, it’s a smear or rice-sized amount. From 3-6 years it’s a pea sized amount.
They swallow most of it. That matters.
This isn’t about mom-shaming. It’s about mom-empowering. There’s a difference.
The toothpick trick works because it removes the guesswork — especially when you’re exhausted and just trying to get through bedtime.
I wish more moms knew that “less” is actually correct here.

I’m a pediatric dentist…
but I’m also a busy mom of 2.
So when I say this, it’s not from a place of judgment. It’s from a place of, “I see how this plays out every single week.”
Most moms aren’t “doing it wrong.”
They’re just overwhelmed and no one told them what actually matters.
I wish more moms knew:
• Baby teeth are tiny, but they do a big job holding space.
• Bedtime milk after 1 can quietly cause a lot of damage.
• Pacifiers aren’t bad — staying on them too long can change the bite.
• 4-year-olds brushing alone? They’re trying… but they’re missing a lot and need help until at least 7-8 years old.
• It’s usually the all-day snacking, not the candy that causes cavities .
You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need the right information.
If you’re a busy mom trying to do your best — you’re exactly who I make these for 🤍
