Friday Fitness Tip:
Food, Drink, Sleep, Movement.
All of these things impact you not just physically
But
Mentally
And
Emotionally
Have you ever stopped to consider that your emotions could be impacted by what you are putting into your body?
Or your sleep quality (or lack thereof)?
Or the coffee, tea, sodas, energy drinks, kombucha, and anything else that you drink?
Or how much you move throughout your day or don’t move throughout your day?
All of these things just mentioned impact your mood, your emotions, your thoughts, your mental wellbeing.
Yes….it’s true.
Our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made and put into an intricate balance called homeostasis.
Everything we put into our body and everything we put ON our body impacts this balance.
Our sleep impacts this balance.
Our movement throughout the day impacts this balance.
When imbalance occurs within our bodies, it sets off all kinds of reaction - not just physically.
Our moods can be impacted - we can become more depressed, more anxious, more fearful, more suspicious, more angry, more sad, more worried, etc.
We can become a person we do not recognize.
Yes, it truly can be as simple as addressing our nutrition, our sleep, our physical movement.
Chemicals and toxins have been added to our processed and packaged foods and to our non-organic, GMO foods. Chemicals and toxins have been added to things we use on a daily basis
AND these chemicals and toxins impact our minds - our emotions - our moods - our bodies - our hormones.
I don’t think this is bad news to tell you.
In fact, I think it is GREAT news to tell you
Because it means there can be solutions.
Now if you are currently working with a therapist or doctor, I’m not telling you to ignore what he or she is telling you.
I am suggesting that you have a nutrition coach work with your doctor and your therapist so that you can heal more quickly.
For those of you just wanting to be the best version of yourself and wanting to continue learning and growing, I recommend finding out what you can do to make better choices with your nutrition, your sleep, your physical movement, what you use on your body, what you use in your homes, etc.
Here are some ways to begin:
Eat fresh, whole foods - nothing that is packaged or processed. If it has to have a label, make sure there’s less than 5 ingredients on the label and make sure the ingredients that you can pronounce and that you recognize.
Drink good water! Eliminate the sodas, sugary drinks, juices, energy drinks, etc.
Move throughout your day - take some walks. Every hour, get up and move - make sure you are getting your blood flowing and your lymphatic system moving.
Your skin is your largest organ - be aware of what you are putting on it. A lot of soaps, bath gels, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, hair products, laundry detergents, etc. have harsh chemicals and toxins in them. These get into your bloodstream in 28 seconds. All of these can be impacting your mood and your mental wellbeing!!!
Sleep!!! Get good sleep. Create an evening ritual that will help you begin to unwind and put you in a place to relax and go to sleep. One hour before your bedtime, turn off the screens - computers, phones, laptops, iPads, TVs, etc. The blue lights coming from those screens can hinder your melatonin production and cause your body to think it’s still time to be awake.
Each of these areas are a topic all by themselves! I just wanted to give you some starting information so you can begin to be educated and empowered to know you have the ability to bring change into your life!
You do not have to stay stuck where you are - you can get to the source of why you feel the way you do and not just continue to treat the symptoms.
There is hope!
Hugs!!!
