AI does not replace you, it makes you better and increases the reach of your talent.

I’ve been attending some conference sessions on AI this week, and it made me remember something when I started Cafe Physio in 2020.

I had an idea for a logo that was a latte with the medical symbol as the latte art, but I didn’t have the ability to make it. I had a branding consultant make a lot of great things at that time, but we never fully captured that image.

As I’m sitting in this session, I thought to describe this to ChatGPT. I had the image in less than 30 seconds exactly how I pictured it 5 years ago.

That’s the difference. It’s still your thoughts, just amplified. The utility goes as far as the user can prompt and create. ☕️

Heading to this week?

Consider checking out our platform presentation on Friday: “Terminology Used to Describe Clinical Setting: A Delphi Study.”

We dive into a nationwide survey of agreed upon terms to use when describing clinical experiences.

Beyond exciting to be collaborating in my first pre-con at 📚

“Empowering Clinical Educators: Enhancing Skills for Effective OMPT Training”

Manual therapy education is very important to me, and this courses provides a framework for effectively teaching and assessment manual therapy skills in DPT programs.

This course was developed by the AAOMPT Academic and Clinical Faculty SIG, led by president Dr. Mary Beth Geiser. Course instructors also include Dr. Catherine Patla, Dr. John Heick, Dr. Dustin Barret, and Dr. Christina Cuka.

There’s still time to sign up - see you in Reno! ☕️

Introducing our latest group of doctors, the Class of 2025 🎉📚

This cohort started at the time I did. We boarded the bus for anatomy in 2022. They were nervous. I not so secretly was more nervous.

It’s been a ride to grow together, and I can’t wait to see what these seasoned clinicians have in store next!

Grateful for my doctoral assistants (DAs)!

Last week at Kean Research Days, the DPT DAs got to show off their research posters.

Elisabeth (second year) showcased our cervical spine case involving management of a positive Sharp Purser test.

Seaerra (first year) put together a case report poster utilizing mirror therapy in total knee arthroscopy.

These students work in conjunction with faculty members so that they can actively be involved in research while they are in the program. Elisabeth’s case report is actively under review as a full manuscript. Seaerra’s poster will be submitted to combined sections meeting. Their assistance makes all of this possible.

AAOMPT 2024 was a victory lap of this great group of fellows that I am just as happy to call my friends.

My poster presented a case report of an Achilles injury that was successfully managed via telehealth and RTM without any in person physical therapy.

I believe telehealth does not replace PT, but expands reach to patients that have barriers to in person care. It should be viewed as support to help a larger percentage of the population who otherwise would go without treatment.

It also creates opportunity for work life balance for clinicians that would to promote longevity in their bodies and their hands, but still want to help people full time.

Wins all around. ☕️
