Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada WIC

Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada WIC ITCN WIC is a special supplemental nutritional program for Women, Infants and Children.

ITCN WIC provides supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for qualified pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women and to infants and children up to age five. Since its beginning in 1974, the WIC Program has earned the reputation of being one of the most successful Federally-funded nutrition programs in the United States. Collective findings of studies, reviews and reports demonstrate that the WIC Program is cost effective in protecting or improving the health/nutritional status of women, infants and children.

Get kids involved in meal preparation! 🥦🍅 Let them pick out fruits and veggies at the grocery store or farmers market, and then have them help wash, peel, and chop them for meals.

When kids are involved in food preparation, it can encourage them to try new foods and learn where our foods come from 👩‍🌾 And with WIC, you can get fresh, canned, or frozen fruits and veggies to accommodate your family's specific needs and preferences! 🙌

Families across Nevada rely on this program to feed children, find resources, and pull themselves out of difficult situations. The majority of ITCN’s WIC clients are Tribal citizens located in rural areas with limited resources and access. Baby formula, diapers, and vegetables will now be out-of-reach for Indigenous families across Nevada.

We will not stand idly by as the tools of empowerment are ripped away from our community. Luckily, numerous studies show that participation in is associated with improved birth outcomes, including higher birth weight, lower likelihood of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission, and lower Medicaid costs for newborns and birthing parents.
