Last Thursday morning I received news that the bill I’ve been working on for the past 3 years was passed unanimously out of the Senate and is now on the governor's desk!!!!!

There was one thing, that really made me focus and made me put my head down and work hard on this issue. Don’t want to say their name, but they called me probably 2 years ago almost in tears, saying that they don’t want their kid to go through what they went through with their chair. From that moment, I knew that I had to do something because that’s one thing I don’t like seeing, is kids going through what we adults are going through that’s a BIG no-no for me. I know I’m not a father yet, but something about making the world a better place for our kids with disabilities, so that they don’t have to worry and be in danger is super important to me. So, that’s what keeps me going through all the barriers, the no's, and the can’t's. Yes, it was for me but it was a lot more about the other people with disabilities in my community, that I was more concerned about. I know that it’s not quite set and stone yet but just wanted to write this post to say how proud I am. This is only the beginning. my mom thinks I could do national work for people with disabilities and that is my dream!

Hopefully, with this new law, there will be a lot less people suffering and becoming enabled.

Last Wednesday morning, I went to co-present my Right to Repair bill to our State Senate. It went so well, I was so happy and proud of what I said and hopefully, it will enough for the bill to be passed because there are so many people who suffer from waiting to get their chairs fixed. They’re forced to sit in a wheelchair that is not fit for them. What people don’t realize is that our electric wheelchairs are fitted to our needs so we can’t really be comfortable in a manual wheelchair.

They say that dreams don’t come true in reality. The way I was brought up, was that if you truly believe in yourself anything is possible. Might be rough at times but the only thing you have to keep thinking about is the end result. That’s what makes me keep pushing forward, I might not like the way my life is now but I have a pacific idea of what I want my life to look like and every day I keep dwelling on that one thought and that’s what keeps me going.

If you or you know anyone who is feeling a bit down, I want you guys to share this post and say to yourself "It’ll be ok" I guarantee you’ll feel better.

Question of the day: How come we have to fight harder than most people just to survive? When everything keeps rising why can’t they do something for the disability community because some of us have our own family’s and yet we’re not able to make whatever amount we want without people checking on the accounts and things. Honestly I think we should get paid because everything adapted and or modify is ALWAYS double the price so in all honesty they should be paying the Disability community more and not less.

Hey guys, will you please take a few minutes to read this. I’ve been trying to get a standing wheelchair for basically my whole life but Medicaid won’t pay for it because it’s not medical necessity but it is. So now they trying to get it passed where Medicaid pays for it.

Our Story

“HI!! My name is Connor, I am 24 and although born with cerebral palsy it hasn’t stopped me from doing what I love to do. I love to paint, snow ski, run marathons and sky dive. Yes, I said sky dive!!!! My goal is to bring awareness to the world about all types of disabilities. I want people to know that disabled people want & deserve to be treated just like you.

When I was brought home to my family as a baby, my parents were told I would never function and that my life would revolve around acute fulltime care due to my Cerebral Palsy. CAT scans showed that a major portion of my brain was missing. Six months after a 2nd scan was taken…and the miracle stands at my brain showing as completely whole. In the years following, I became an avid skier, using a modified device that would allow me to not just ski, but to show off a little. Photos exist of me in full flight over jumps on snowy mountainsides. But it’s not just my ability to adapt and excell that makes this young man unique…everything I has, I works for. My parents have taught me the valuable lesson of acheiving through perserverence and effort.

I have taken on the craft of painting…primarily landscapes and the occasional portrait of the legend Bob Marley. I’ve created an organization – MyLOW (My Life On Wheels) – that creates funding for disabled kids, teenagers and adults to attend ski schools in the region. This is solely funded by the income generated by sales of my artwork… I also looks forward to the day when he can reach out to the masses and talk to hundreds of people at assemblies and school gatherings.

Simply put, next time you think that your day is difficult, remind yourself that people such as Me exist and they prove to us all that through dedication, a caring and selfless spirit, encouragement and love, that we can do ALL things we set our minds to.
