Doula NV

Doula NV Postpartum doula and placenta encapsulation services What is a postpartum doula? This extra time for healing allows mama a chance to ease into her new role.

A postpartum doula enables and encourages new mothers to take more time to recover from the birth experience. Many new parents find it helpful to have a postpartum doula visit within a day or two after birth. At this time she can offer assistance with breastfeeding, recovery, newborn care, and family adjustment. This is a great time for parents to decompress and reflect on their birth story. Why hire a postpartum doula? Becoming a parent and caring for a newborn is both amazing and terrifying. New parents may feel overwhelmed when suddenly on their own to care for a newborn. A new mother might experience dramatic hormonal shifts, frustration with early breastfeeding, fatigue and soreness. In the first couple of days after birth, I focus my attention on mama’s rest and recovery. I will care for baby so that she may nap, shower, eat and do whatever else she needs to regain her energy (and maybe even sanity). I will also be sure her bedside is stocked with plenty of water and snacks. :)

As mama gains more energy, we will begin to practice different breastfeeding positions, soothing techniques, babywearing and test out that good ol’ breast pump. My intentions are to be the extra hands, eyes, and heart you need to become more confident as a parent.
