📊 Over 40% of pregnant persons enrolled in Medicaid receive a prescription for opioids.
⚠️ Drug-related deaths contribute to pregnancy-associated deaths, with substance use being a preventable, causal, or correlating factor in maternal mortality.
🩺 Several obstetrical complications have been associated with opioid use in pregnancy, including pre-eclampsia, miscarriage, premature delivery, fetal growth restriction, and fetal death.
👶 OUD can lead to Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome or Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (NAS/NOWS)

Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is a comprehensive, integrated, public health approach to delivering early intervention for individuals with risky substance/opioid use and provides a timely referral to more intensive substance/opioid use disorder treatment.

With mental health content flooding social media, providers face both opportunities and challenges. Some posts reduce stigma and spark awareness, while others spread confusion.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are frontline public health workers who link people to health and social services, provide education, offer support, and advocate for healthier communities. They use lived experience and strong community connections to break down barriers to care and improve wellbeing.

During CHW Awareness Week (Aug 25–29, 2025), we celebrate CHWs for the essential role they play every day in strengthening health across Nevada and the nation. 💙

🎤 Have you heard? CASAT’s own Daniel Fred is joining the lineup for Lip Sync Legends 2025!

He’s a recovery advocate, educator, and known for bringing both heart and humor to everything he does. On October 3, he’s stepping onto the stage at the Reno Public Market to support behavioral health in Nevada.

Lip Sync Legends is a fundraiser for Vitality Unlimited, a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic providing treatment, housing, and support services across the state. We’re proud to support Daniel and this important cause.
