This weekend. Friday (10-5), Saturday (10-5), Sunday (10-12)

Here’s the whole schedule:
Friday, 3/06
10am - SHOW OPENS
11am - Presentation - Basic Orchid Cultivation (tbd)
5pm - Show closes

Saturday, 3/07
10am Show Opens
11am - Presentation- Would you like some Science with that Orchid? - Neal Winslow
2pm - Presentation - Repotting Your Orchids (tbd)
4pm - Raffle basket drawing
5pm Show closes

Sunday, 3/08
Show opens
10am - Noon - The Plant Doctor is IN (Neal and James)
NOON - SHOW ENDS

Hi everyone, sorry I missed posting last month, I’ll try to keep up for the rest of the year.

This month we are featuring our own intrepid world traveler (and membership chair) Joy Orlich. Joy will entertain us with “Orchids in the Wild”, about her trip to Papua New Guinea, home of many “cool” orchids.

No regular meeting in July!

Members will be gathering for a potluck, election, and auction.

We’ll be back next month with a regular meeting ( August 7 ).

Orchid Society of Northern Nevada

We have a great talk from Mary Gettisen on interesting species from the genus Masdevallia.

Mary Gerritsen, Ph.D. is an independent biotechnology consultant who has been growing orchids (mostly species) on and off for more than 30 years. Since relocating to the San Francisco Bay area in 1997, Mary started a collection of small cool growing miniature species such as Masdevallias, Porroglossums, Lepanthes and other assorted tiny gems.

Mary is the co-author of several botanical books: Masdevallias, Gems of the Orchid World; Calochortus, Mariposa Lilies and their Relatives; A Compendium of Miniature Orchid Species; A Bay Area Guide to Orchids and their Culture; and the American Orchid Society Guide to Orchid and their Culture, with fellow San Francisco Orchid Society Member and well-known photographer, Ron Parsons.,

Doors open at 6:00

Members will be bringing plants for sale tonight.
We will also have an informal discussion of growing tips and techniques.

We should have a great Show and Tell table tonight since we are right in the middle of the Spring blooming season.

No raffle tonight, due to the sales event.
