They’d run the usual tests:
❌ 677? Negative.
❌ 1298? Negative.
🧪 Homocysteine? Looks fine.

🧠 Methylfolate and your mood? …Way more connected than you think.

When I skip my methylfolate, I feel it fast…

More negative thoughts….
More "I'm not good enough."...
More lack mindset. 😞

That’s usually my clue: 👉 💡Oh right... I forgot my methylfolate. 😅

Why? Because it supports neurotransmitter production, especially serotonin, via a compound called SAMe.

No methylfolate = less serotonin = low mood.

So if your thoughts take a sudden dip ↘️ ...It might not be just in your head.

🧪 Homocysteine levels 👉 the Good … the Bad … and the Optimal

Conventional medicine might say anything under 15 is fine…

But the data?

It tells a different story. 👇

📉 Newer research shows that levels over 10 can significantly increase your risk of cardiovascular issues like stroke and heart attack 🫀⚡

One study showed up to a 10x higher risk when homocysteine levels exceeded 10. ❗

Even being just slightly over that mark makes a difference. 😬

So what’s ideal? 🤔

Most functional practitioners agree:

😎 5–8 is optimal
👌Under 10 is acceptable
😬 Over 10 = worth paying attention to

The confusion comes from outdated reference ranges… but just because 10–15 is average doesn't mean it's healthy.

💡 If your levels are over 10, it's not panic time… but it is worth tracking, understanding, and supporting through the right nutrients (like B6, B12, and methylfolate).

🧪 If you're checking your folate levels, make sure you're asking for the right test. 👇

Most doctors run a blood serum folate test🩸 BUT…

…but that only shows how much folate is floating around in your bloodstream at that moment.

↗️ It can spike right after a meal or supplement and doesn’t tell you much about what your body is actually using. 🤷‍♂️

👉 For a more accurate picture, ask for an RBC folate test instead.

It measures folate levels inside(!) your red blood cells, which reflects your long-term folate status… not just a short-term snapshot.

⚠️ Especially important if you have MTHFR 🧬 or other methylation issues.

You want to know how well your body is actually utilizing folate, not just how much is passing through.

🥖 Gluten-free? Great.

But here's something most people don’t realize 👇

A lot of gluten-free baked goods (cookies, breads, snacks, etc.) are made with rice flour … which is fine… except rice is often high in arsenic. 😬

And if you have MTHFR🧬, your body may already struggle with detoxing heavy metals like arsenic. That’s a big deal.

💡 So if you're GF and MTHFR, it’s worth being a little extra mindful about how much rice you're consuming … especially in processed form.

💊 Your ideal methylfolate dose can change over time... and that’s totally normal.

I used to take 6–8 mg daily for years.

More than that?

I’d feel like I’d plugged into a caffeine IV💥 jittery, anxious, heart racing.
No thanks.

But lately?

I’ve been doing just as well on less.

Why?

Because as my body detoxed and healed over time, I didn’t need as much support. 🙌

There are 4 types of B12:
✅ Methylcobalamin
✅ Hydroxocobalamin
✅ Adenosylcobalamin
🚫 Cyanocobalamin

Only the first three are truly beneficial. Cyanocobalamin?

It's synthetic, poorly absorbed, and even contains cyanide. 😬

⚠️ Many supplements still use it because it’s cheap.

So always check your labels. If it doesn’t say which form? Leave it on the shelf. 🛑
