The Pollen Patch
Meet another completely divine connection- Sheena Hanscel of the Pollen Patch. I often collect connections way before I know what role they will play in my life.
I was thinking - it would be really cool to make flower crowns and tap into that feeling of being a kid in the sunshine, carefree, playing with dandelions. (my home in Iowa was filled with the best weeds)
Luckily - she loved the idea! And the flowers will be fancier than the weeds of my childhood.
Here is the really fun part- I headed over to a Kava Talk and 3 people brought up her name when talking about the fair! It was meant to be.
About the Pollen Patch
The Pollen Patch is a native ethnobotanical garden dedicated to growing medicinal plants and preserving the wisdom of Indigenous Herbalism through skill-building workshops and natural, botanical products. We craft garden-gathered alternative products such as herbal teas, herbal prerolls (substance-free smoking alternative), shower steamers, bottled milk baths, botanical soy candles, salt/sugar scrubs, hand-rolled incense, salves, balms, lip oil, crochet bees filled with herbs and more! In 2025, Phoenix Rising Wellness Coaching received a grant from the city of Columbus to build a native pollinator garden as an urban, outdoor, educational space. We teach classes on native plants, herbalism, floral arranging and crafting natural garden-gathered products as alternatives to the chemical ridden options on the shelves. We are a local, small business that is woman and indigenous owned. In our first year, we have become a preferred vendor at COSI and host monthly workshops at their After Dark events. We recently secured a consignment contract with the Ohio Herb Center and we teach classes at organizations such as Franklin Park Conservatory, The Ohio Craft Museum, The Columbus Garden School, Rural Action’s Fall Fungi Festival and the Spirituality Network. We so excited to continue growing this 2026 season!
