Verbal praise is just one form of reinforcement, but can make such a huge difference to a child! Tell them what they did that you like, and what shows you they’re trying, even if it’s a small step forward.

We should always be mindful of the words we use when reinforcing behaviors and remind our children who their greatest cheerleader is!

Did you know that just hearing a speech sound repeatedly can help your child learn to say it correctly? This technique, called auditory bombardment, is a simple and effective way to reinforce speech sounds at home!

✨ How to Try It:
🔹 Pick a target sound (like /s/ or /k/).
🔹 Read a short story or list of words that contain the sound multiple times.
🔹 Emphasize the sound naturally as you speak—no need for your child to repeat!
🔹 Use silly voices, sing songs, or play a game to keep it fun! 🎶🎲

💡 Example: If your child is working on /s/, you might say: "The sun is so bright!" or "Let's find six snakes in this story!"

The more your child hears the sound, the more familiar it becomes! Try this for a few minutes a day, and watch their speech skills grow. ✨

For children ages 1–3, screen time can be a great learning tool when used thoughtfully. The key? Co-viewing with your child! Watching together turns passive viewing into an interactive experience, helping develop communication and language skills.

Ask questions, label objects, and talk about what you see on the screen. For example:
📱 “Look at the dog! What sound does it make?”
📱 “Wow, that car is fast! Where do you think it’s going?”

Here are 3 simple tips to help your child find their words:
1️⃣ Comment more, ask less – Instead of asking, "What's that?" say, "That’s a big truck!"
2️⃣ Give choices – Offer two options like, "Do you want juice or water?" to encourage decision-making and words.
3️⃣ Repeat often – Repetition helps language stick! Say “ball” several times as you play.
