Leg update: I finished physical therapy yesterday and I am walking!

Still not my normal walk but I’m walking without a boot, an ankle brace or crutches 🙏🏼

This injury has reminded me of so many things I took for granted:
- Being able to walk with two legs and no assistance
- Being able to shower, standing
- Being able to do yoga and teach yoga
- Walking up and down stairs
- Being able to walk my dog
- Not having pain when I walk
- Not having to think while I walk
- Being able to do any household chores
- Being able to wear anything other than sneakers
- And so much more

All of these things I wasn’t able to do for over 6 months, some I still struggle with.

It’s been a wild ride and it’s still not over. I’ll need an MRI after I have our baby girl. But for now I’m so grateful to be walking and for all the support from my amazing husband and family.

Okay baby girl, I’m walking and ready for you 💕

Update: Yoga in the Park is canceled until further notice (I'm so sorry) 😔 The healing process is going slowly (still non weight bearing) and I still have a very long road ahead. Thank you for your understanding and I hope to see you all again soon 💛

Hi yogis! I hope you are all having a great summer. Just a quick update on my leg…I had an x-ray yesterday and my leg is healing well, however I have 6 more weeks of non weight bearing 😩 then I start physical therapy.

Yoga in the Park classes are officially on hiatus for the summer. Classes will resume in September (possibly earlier, depending).

I had my 2 week follow up appointment today. The stitches were removed and I've been upgraded to a fancy boot but I still cannot put any weight on my left leg until at least 4 weeks and I'm not sure where it goes from there.

I thought about still coming to teach classes (from a chair without doing any of the class) but I decided against it for a few reasons: I still have a lot of pain and swelling which increases when my leg is not elevated, I cannot drive yet, I would need to somehow carry a chair with me as I push the walker to sit on during class, and I know I have a lot of new students who come to class who prefer when I demonstrate and do the class with them.

So for now, I will let me body heal.

Remember, I do have a YouTube channel, Carolann Rose Yoga or check out Julie Baker Yoga & Wellness or Great Oak Yoga Studio in Richmond Hill.

Que sera sera. See you all soon 💛

Ok yogis, here’s the update for now…Sunday Yoga in the Park will be canceled for the next two weeks (6/12 & 6/19) until I have my follow up post surgery appointment.

The pain is still very intense, I have some swelling and I’m learning how to hop around with one leg with my walker (thank goodness for yoga and balance).

In the meantime, I do have a YouTube channel (Carolann Rose Yoga) and I’m also trying to find a yoga teacher to sub for me. I will continue to keep you updated.

As for me, my yoga practice will be lots of meditation and pranayama for the time being 🙏🏼

Unfortunately no class tomorrow (6/5). I fell and fractured my tibia and needed surgery.

A quick heads up- there is no yoga this Sunday (5/29) due to Memorial Day Weekend. See you on 6/5!

A little bit about me...

As a yoga teacher, my intention is to create a loving space where students can let go of both physical and mental stress, doubts and limitations and cultivate a sense of love, confidence and power within themselves. I want yoga to be a form of healing for others because it was, and still is, for me. My yoga career unknowingly began 15 years ago, when I began taking classes with my mom as a young teenager. In 2011, I became a certified yoga instructor and went on to complete my prenatal yoga certification in 2017. This path has led me to wonderful places and introduced me to so many beautiful people who I am forever grateful for.
