Every day, we live and breathe our mission to lead our communities to well-being, one person at a time, and you can see that in the stories throughout the latest edition of our Mission Magazine publication.
• In the early morning hours, Brice and Grace Brown faced every parent’s worst fear when their newborn son suddenly stopped breathing. Thanks to their fast action — and our specialized pediatric ready care team — Kolson’s thriving today.
• Retirement wasn’t turning out the way Dave Steinard thought it would. He was doubling and then tripling up on the recommended doses of over-the-counter pain relievers, but he might as well have just been eating candy, for all the good it did him. But a conversation with a friend set Dave on a path to the retirement he’d always imagined.
• From the beginning, Lance Pence was the kind of nurse Reid team members wanted to be around — calm in a crisis, quick with humor, and unfailingly kind. A Critical Care Unit (CCU) charge nurse, he had a gift for connecting with people. When Lance passed away in April 2024, he left a legacy of patient-centered care. Now his wife, Tara, herself a CCU nurse at Reid, carries his legacy forward in nursing.
• Perseverance and determination have carried Deanna Medley, NP, through personal challenges and tragedy to a career focused on compassionate, patient-centered care. With both bedside skill and empathy, she doesn’t just treat illness — she brings comfort to the whole person, which is why she was selected as our first recipient of the Advanced Practice Provider of the Year Award.
