Been 10 years since I’ve done the Monument Ave 10k & I almost forgot how much fun it is💚
My running days are over because KNEES, but pretty proud of myself for walking 6.2 miles in 1 hour & 31 minutes!

Saw some of my family & some of my actual family & too💚

It was a perfect (hot ☀️) Richmond morning

There’s a new kind of “market” coming to Richmond, one where instead of buying things, you show up to give something back.

On Saturday, May 9, the first Richmond Volunteer Market will bringing together an impressive lineup of local organizations and Richmonders looking for ways to get involved. Hosted at Gallery5, the event will run from 1 pm to 5 pm.

“This is a new kind of ‘market’ where local organizations connect with Richmonders who ‘shop’ for ways to support their community, all while enjoying a bite to eat, your favorite drink, and a local musician,” said organizer .

Expect live music, a food truck, a full bar, and some of Richmond’s most impactful organizations doing meaningful work across the region, from mutual aid and housing to youth programs and environmental efforts. The following local organizations are featured in the first event:

RVA Repair Cafe ()

Almost 6 years ago now, I posted this picture with the caption “Happiness is, knowing your best friend has met her person”.
It was my first time meeting Miles in person, and the three of us bounced around Richmond together all day, socially distant-ish in the midst of a global pandemic.
From the moment you met him, he made you feel like you’d known him for years. He was a different kind of dude in the best kind of way. I could feel the love between the two of them and I knew that she was in good hands in Miami.
Over the years they built a life together & were blessed with two beautiful babies. Their beautiful family gave me so much hope.

The longer you live you learn that life often times doesn’t make sense.
And there are some losses that will never make sense no matter how hard you try to understand them.

Natalie is so deeply loved not just by those closest to her but also by a whole community here in Richmond.

STRENGTH 💚
7.3 miles in a weighted vest.
Longest walk of my 2026 & longest with the vest.
The river was high & the sky was dramatic. It perfectly matched the energy of the morning.
No music. No podcast. Just the sound of the city, the river & my breath.
Some steps were quiet & some miles were loud.
Two months of wearing this vest. I’m not walking as fast as I used to but that’s what happens when you carry more.
I can’t really say it’s getting easier. It’s still hard.
But I’m stronger than I was 2 months ago.

Baby steps. Big steps. All the steps.
