Have you ever woken up, taken a look in the mirror, let out a *sigh* breath of disappointment, and just gone on about your day without any expectations? This was me for about 4 years of my young adult life. I became so consumed by graduate school and the working world that I made no real commitments to myself. On a non-regular basis, I would exercise a few times a week. Typically I would pack a healthy lunch, but would fall apart the rest of the day. I convinced myself that it was okay to be living like this because of the chaos and stress. I told myself that I would eventually make a change.
It was during a doctor’s appointment that the time to change was now. My weight had gone up significantly and I was at risk for developing disease! Holy s#!t, me?!? A 23-year old at the time, former Division I swimmer was putting herself at risk? This was the wake up call I needed. This mindset of “putting it off because I’ve got ___ to do” needed to stop if I wanted to keep my health.
I decided to join Weight Watchers. I had seen my mother have such success with the program, and I figured it was at least a start. I was able to lose most of the weight I had put on but still was not satisfied. During the summer of 2018, I discovered the wonderful world of essential oils with Young Living. I’ve been continually learning how oils offer a safe, non-toxic alternative to supplements, household cleaners, and even snacks to help me continue to heal my body. When Spring of 2019 rolled in, I learned all about Intermittent Fasting and decided to try it out. It’s been great to adjust my fasting and eating schedules to my routine depending on the day or week.
While I can honestly say I’m not 100% where I want to be with my body, I’m so grateful and I’ve learned so much in this process. I’ve learned that weight loss is much more than a number on the scale. It’s about knowing exactly how what you put in or on your body can impact your health. I’ve also learned and come to accept that each individual truly is different, and the process towards healing your body is ever-changing. My goal is that this page offers you a safe place to learn, connect, and join me in learning more about your individual health and wellness journey!
