As the stay at home order goes on, Inner Wisdom Body Care continues to care about improving your health. My goal remains to help you move from discomfort to comfort, from stress to relaxation. So I would like to offer you more self help tips to maintain your heath, wellness, and longevity.
The top five factors for health, wellness and longevity are: the food we eat, movement and exercise, the water we drink, the air we breathe, and most importantly the thoughts we think. By paying attention to these factors we care for ourselves and strengthen our immure systems, increasing our chances of fighting off any virus that may cross our path.
The foods we eat can nourish us, replenish us, and restore our vitality. While at home many are snacking and enjoying extra treats. Some turn to comfort foods to manage stress. This stress or boredom eating may feel great at first, but ultimately the extra sugar and fat may bring you down. Remember to choose foods that support you. Plenty of fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods will strengthen your body and lift your spirits. You will have increased energy which will support your efforts in the next important factor - movement and exercise.
Movement and exercise gets us breathing easier and enables our fluids to flow more easily. If you are unable to get outside to walk, there are other things you can do. Try doing push ups and squats against a wall. Or loosen up by stretching. When was the last time you tried to touch your toes? Any of these activities will help you breathe easier and keep your fluids flowing, thereby building a stronger body and mind. You will feel better and your spirits will be lifted.
The third important factor for health, wellness, and longevity is water. For good health we need to consume 1/2 of our body weight (in ounces) per day to flush out the body and keep all systems healthy. A 120 lb. person needs 60 ounces of water daily. Luckily, water is one thing we won't run out of during this pandemic. Stay hydrated for good health! You'll feel better.
Next is the air we breath. Breath is vital life force energy! Studies show that focusing on the timing and pace of breath can have positive effects on both body and mind. There are several brain regions linked to emotion, attention, and body awareness that are activated when we pay attention to our breath. Paced breathing involves consciously inhaling and exhaling according to a set rhythm. For example, inhale for 4 seconds, exhale for 6 seconds, and repeat 10 times. This helps us to regulate our response to stress. Exhale all tension, anxiety, and negativity. Breathe in all that you are wanting and let go of all that you no longer want.
If you are feeling good after getting the dust out of your house and want to do more for your air quality, get the dust bunnies behind your washer and dryer. Clean your baseboards. Clean and sanitize doors, door k***s and light switches.
The number one factor for health, wellness and longevity is the thoughts you think. Thoughts take precedence over all other activities. It is the thoughts we are having while eating, drinking, breathing or doing any movement or exercise that enables that action to benefit our bodies. Continue to look for acts of kindness. Share what you find to help others stay positive. While you are at home spend some time each day thinking about positive things that are happening.
Help your family and friends by sharing this as well. Please continue to care for yourself and your family.
I look forward to seeing you soon and continuing to work on your health in person.
