Last week, our staff had the opportunity to fully enjoy and participate in National Hospital Week, a special time to recognize and celebrate the incredible people who make healthcare possible every single day. From nurses, providers, and support staff to administration, housekeeping, dietary, maintenance, and everyone working behind the scenes – it takes an entire team to provide compassionate care to our communities, and we are so grateful for each and every one of them.

This year’s celebration was made even more meaningful thanks to the generosity and support of amazing local businesses and community partners who helped us honor our staff in such thoughtful ways.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our sponsors:

⭐ Big O Tires— thank you for the incredible deals you offered our staff! We are so proud to be your neighbors and truly appreciate your generosity and support of our healthcare team.

⭐ NLS Events & Gifts — thank you for the delicious sweet treats delivered to Clinic West and the Care Center! Your handcrafted beverages and specially curated themed drinks brought so many smiles to our residents and staff and perfectly captured the Hospital Week spirit.

⭐ Moebius Properties — thank you for bringing a little extra magic to our campuses through your generous sponsorship. Your support helped make every activity even more special, and we truly consider your family part of the GRHD family.

⭐ Colorado Mountain College in Rifle — thank you for your generous sponsorship supporting continued education opportunities for our staff. Your investment in lifelong learning and professional growth helps strengthen the future of healthcare in our community, and we are incredibly grateful for your partnership.

Hospital Week also overlaps National Police Week, and we had the privilege to partner with Rifle Police Department during their annual bike rodeo. Several of our providers had the opportunity to connect with the community by serving up delicious hotdogs and cold beverages from Alpine Bank's awesome concessions trailer.

We loved seeing all of the kiddos and their families enjoying some fun in the sun while also learning about bike and helmet safety as we gear up for the official start of summer.

To everyone who helped us celebrate last week, thank you for showing our healthcare workers just how valued and appreciated they are. We are proud to serve this community together. 💙

Across the nation, hospitals are reporting alarming increases in crashes involving e-bikes, e-scooters, and e-motos. Nationwide, more than 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀, with emergency departments reporting sharp increases in traumatic brain injuries and severe fractures.

Children and teens are especially at risk. Children’s Hospital Colorado recently reported an 84% spike in severe e-bike and e-scooter injuries involving youth patients.

One of the most concerning trends? Helmet use remains extremely low. Data from Nevada’s University Medical Center showed 𝗳𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀—𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻—𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵.

Parents: now is the time to have a serious conversation with your children about responsible riding and understanding Colorado law.

Many vehicles being ridden on our streets are not legally classified as e-bikes. Electric motorcycles, commonly called “e-motos,” may require registration, insurance, licensing, and legal roadway equipment. Operating these vehicles unlawfully puts riders, passengers, and the public at risk.

𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:

• 𝐂.𝐑.𝐒. 𝟒𝟐-𝟒-𝟏𝟒𝟏𝟐(𝟏𝟒)(𝐚)(𝐈)
Class 1 and 2 e-bikes may be ridden on pedestrian paths where bicycles are authorized to travel.

• 𝐂.𝐑.𝐒. 𝟒𝟐-𝟒-𝟏𝟒𝟏𝟐(𝟏𝟒)(𝐚)(𝐈)
Class 3 e-bikes may not be ridden on pedestrian paths unless the path is within a street or highway.

• 𝐂.𝐑.𝐒. 𝟒𝟐-𝟒-𝟏𝟒𝟏𝟐(𝟏𝟓)(𝐚)
Riders under 16 years old shall not ride a Class 3 e-bike unless they are a passenger on a bike designed to carry passengers.

• 𝐂.𝐑.𝐒. 𝟒𝟐-𝟒-𝟏𝟒𝟏𝟐(𝟏𝟓)(𝐚)
Riders under 18 years old must wear a bicycle helmet when riding a Class 3 e-bike.

This is not about taking away fun—it’s about preventing tragedy.

𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁:
• Wearing a helmet every ride
• Obeying traffic laws and signals
• Riding age-appropriate and legal vehicles
• Never carrying an unsafe number of passengers
• Understanding that electric motorcycles are not toys

A moment of poor judgment can result in life-altering injuries or loss of life. Let’s work together to keep our community safe.
