Prenatal Yoga is for ✨EVERYONE✨

I recently had someone ask me if prenatal yoga would benefit them if they weren’t planning on having an unmedicated birth and my answer was and still is YES!

Prenatal yoga can offer you the tools and support needed to carry you through pregnancy regardless of how you birth your baby. Here are just a few:

✨ Boosts flexibility, strength, and eases pregnancy discomforts.
✨Promotes relaxation and emotional well-being.
✨Teaches breathing techniques and positions that can aid during any type of delivery.

Join us in this beautiful practice on Saturday, July 6th at 1:30pm

Happy belated Mother’s Day to all who show up and mother. The world wouldn’t be the same without you!

And if you’re wondering, this is one of my favorite parts of motherhood. Holding my boy close as he sleeps. 🥹

The 4th trimester is such a special time. There’s a lot of adjusting and learning, for everyone involved. Using mantras can provide a powerful tool for emotional support and self-care during the transition to motherhood. Mantras offer a way to focus the mind, promote relaxation, and cultivate positive thoughts, which can help reduce stress, anxiety, and overwhelm.

By repeating them often, you can foster a sense of empowerment and resilience, nurturing your mental and emotional well-being as you navigate the challenges and joys of motherhood.

Do you have a favorite you’ve used in your early postpartum days? I’d love to read it in the comments. 💛

This may ruffle some feathers, but hear me out.

The 4th trimester is such a sacred time. Not only are you recovering from birth, but you and your baby are establishing a bond, learning what works best for you in terms of feedings, etc. What if instead of having any and all visitors come over we were more intentional with who we allow into our space?

In his book The Postnatal Depletion Cure, Dr. Serrallach suggests that the only people who should visit you are those with a job to do. Think: cooking or bringing food, cleaning bathrooms, picking up the kitchen, doing laundry, bringing needed supplies, etc.

Initially you may feel uncomfortable asking someone to do these things for you, but if you think about it, if they are coming to you during such a vulnerable and special time, you want to be extremely comfortable with them in your space.

If you’re considering having visitors, talk with your partner about creating a policy or some boundaries around visitors. You could even have a list of chores on the fridge that visitors can choose from! If you communicate these things ahead of time, you may be surprised at how willing your visitors are.

3 tips to prepare you for the 4th trimester:

1. Establish Support: A strong support system of friends, family, and health professionals who can offer assistance during the 4th trimester will make an incredible impact on your experience. They can help provide nutritious meals, ensure you’re receiving proper care, make sure you’re setting aside time for self-care, etc.

2. Plan Ahead: Educate yourself on what to expect in terms of postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Arrange for help ahead of time in order to alleviate responsibilities and allow for more rest.

3. Communicate Openly: Maintain open communication with your partner about expectations, emotions, and division of responsibilities to ensure a supportive and understanding environment. If you feel you lack the support you need, communicate that with a safe person.

No matter what, the 4th trimester will have an adjustment period, but you can do it! Set yourself up for success by using these tips as ideas for conversations you need to have with those around you. Now, for all my veteran moms out there: was there anything you wish you would have done before birth to prepare you for the 4th trimester? Drop it in the comments so we can help new moms! ❣️

thoughts from my yoga practice the other day.

As I reflect on my journey through motherhood, I am reminded of the beautiful seasons that have shaped me. Each stage bringing its own unique joys and challenges. Each season requiring me to adapt and evolve. And just like the seasons in nature, at times I have seemed unrecognizable to myself in the middle of winters. Other times I have witnessed myself shine so bright in seasons of summer.

What I keep coming back to, time and time again is that every stage and season has its own unique gifts and has served a special purpose. No one season is “better” than another, they’re just different.

Today, I invite you to join me in celebrating the seasons of motherhood. Let's release the pressure of comparison and deadlines of where we think we should be and instead cherish the beauty and growth that each stage brings. Cheers to you and whatever season you find yourself in. 🥂
