Performance matters.
It's always important to remember that there are two major pieces to improving fitness - your training and your recovery
People often focus on the training side without realizing just how important the recovery side actually is because it's what sets the limits for training in the first place
After you finish a workout, your body goes through a process of recovery that ultimately turns the stress of your workout into a higher level of fitness
How long that process takes depends on what you did in your workout and everything that happens after, as well as what you did in the hours and days before the workout
Not getting enough sleep, having a poor diet, dealing with a lot of mental stress, etc., significantly slows down your recovery.
This effectively limits how much training you can do and still make progress
Training above this limit doesn't make you better, it just slows down recovery even further and creates a cycle that eventually leads to plateaus and injuries
That's because the stress of training and life accumulate. They don't reset each day
Focusing just as much on recovery as you do on training is one of the most important pieces of making consistent, long-term progress where you reach your goals instead of fall short
If you want to get faster results, you need to train more
In order to train more, you need to be able to recover faster
That only happens when you recognize that everything you do outside the gym is just as important as everything that happens inside of it
While regeneration strategies like sauna, cryo, cold plunges, etc., can be valuable tools, getting the core pieces of lifestyle - sleep, nutrition, activity, and mental stresss - are all the pillars of recovery that everyone needs to focus on
Getting these things right is what allows you to get the most out of your workouts and see the fastest results possible
