My personal life is getting busy and my private practice is growing. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿฅณ
I am taking time off to focus on my private practice and enjoy some quality time with my family, my home, and my self. I am also taking time to reassess and reflect on my podcast/social media presence.

weekend journal time!

This week's episode is about self-discovery, self-exploration, and self-study.

Who am I?

What are my values & beliefs?

Am I living according to these beliefs?

In order to make decisions we need to first identify our values. In order to decide WHAT we want to do, we need to decide WHO we want to be.

This week's journal prompt is an invitation to get real honest with yourself. Take a real inventory and explore your inner world. โค๏ธ

Happy Saturday & Happy Journaling!

As close out the winter season here in the northern hemisphere, take some time to pause & reflect on the things you are beginning to commit.
Spring brings about new beginnings, and sometimes that means lots of options/potential plans for the upcoming season & summer to follow.

Take some time this weekend to think about where YOU truly want to commit your time time, energy, and focus.

I made this post awhile back and since I spoke about on my podcast this week, I thought it would be a nice time to refresh:

Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected to one another. But it is important that we distinguish the differences between them. Just because I am angry does not mean that I must punch someone in the face. Just because I don't "feel" like doing something that I am responsible for doing, does not mean that I just don't do that thing.

This is a huge part of discipline: doing something even when we don't feel like it, particularly if we have made a commitment or have a responsibility to something.

Our feelings are super important. I am a big fan of being present with emotions. Emotions are crucial for understanding our inner world.

But again, just because I feel some type of way, does not mean that I need to act according to that feeling. It's important to think things through thoroughly, and invite the emotions and rationales to come to the table together to have a conversation.

Last Monday I released an episode on contentment. The days that followed led me into thoughts and conversations about the duality that exists within us.

A desire to do one thing, but then doing something else instead.

Feeling at peace yet angry.

Hopeful but skeptical.

Rational yet emotional.

Order and chaos.

Light and dark.

I came across this quote by Jung.
This invitation to see the parts of ourselves we may not like.
This invitation to come to understand them, to be befriend them, to work with them rather than against them.
The idea of contentment can seem so far out of reach if contentment were to mean a state of forever happiness. But how can we practice contentment when life feels out of control? How can we be content when we feel lost, hurt, angry?

The journey of self-discovery is a life long journey and unique to each individual. I enjoy pondering these thoughts and questions. If you are interested in pondering them with me, you are welcome to contact me for a free 15-min consultation or to schedule an appointment today. ๐Ÿ’›

purity: being thus and no other.

On my most recent podcast I talk about purity. The word purity may bring up a lot of thoughts and ideas and may even be a triggering word.

When I started looking up definitions for this word, the definition "being thus and no other" struck me as intriguing.

Purity is the very essence of something.
Purity is to be with what is without changing, without judgement.

So what would it look like to practice purity?
What would it look like to be purely you?
What would it look like to be thus and no other?

Tune into my latest episode for further discussion & meditation. www.anchor.fm/sacredgarden

today's episode is a bit unique.
I was originally thinking of what it means to be clean - internally and externally. How can we take care of ourselves?

This wondering led me down a road to talk about what it means to be pure and the difference between cleanliness and purity.

By purity, I mean

To be pure, is to simply be.
without changing.
without judging.
To be with yourself IS being pure.

This episode is fun and abstract. It's quite different than any episode I have done before. Enjoy ๐Ÿ’›

We keep ourselves stuck when we focus on things outside of our control.

We cling to the past or future with disappointments or expected hopes. Then we wonder why we are sad when things don't go as expected.

Bringing you a one day early this week. ๐Ÿ’›

This week on my podcast I talk about nonattachment. Nonattachment is about letting go of the clinging to something/someone not the letting go of the thing itself.

Nonattachment allows us to fully experience the joy and liveliness of the present moment.

This week's journal prompt invites you to explore attachment:

- What or who have you been attached to?

- How has this attachment made you feel?

- How can you enjoy this person or thing when you are literally present with them/it?

- How can you enjoy this very moment?

Tune into this week's episode to practice

Nonattachment: letting go of the clinging to something or someone NOT the letting go of the enjoyment of something or someone.

Nonattachment is about enjoying the present moment. We often find ourselves clinging to the past of something we once had or the hope of having something in the future.

Experience joy, peace, and freedom by being fully present in this very moment.

Today's meditation offers a talk on nonattachment, followed by a meditation.

In honor of I've been talking about this week.โ
โ
What is your love language when you receive love vs when you give love? โ
โ
Are they the same or different?โ
โ
Of course we all receive/give love in multiple ways. Identifying your own love language can be super helpful for increasing self-awareness on love!โ
โ
Not sure of your love language?

5 love languages as described by Gary Chapman.โ
โ
Learning love languages helps us to show love to ourselves and others.โ
โ
Have you ever shown someone love and they didn't seem to receptive to it? For example, maybe you got someone a gift to show your appreciation but they didn't respond in the way you thought they would. But the moment you gave them a compliment their face lit up with joy. Perhaps that's because they resonate with words of affirmation more than receiving gifts.โ
โ
Sure, these are all ways we give and receive love, but we tend to lean towards one more than another. And sometimes, or need for one changes depending on what else is going on in our life.โ
โ
For example, my husband and I spend lots of quality time together. Typically, this is my preferred way to receive love. A few weeks ago he bought me flowers and I immediately started crying with joy!โ
Gift giving isn't something that I receive often, and apparently it was something my heart really desired!โ
โ
What's your love language? ๐Ÿค—โ

preparing for your Friday night in? here's this weekend

This week I talked about shame vs guilt:

guilt = violation of values
shame = violation of self

As you journal on this topic, reflect and noticed the difference of shame and guilt in your own life.

Notice how and when guilt may have turned in shame. Notice how and when shame was projected on to you.

This topic is a tough one.
Be gentle with yourself as you get curious about shame & guilt.

Tune into Monday's episode for a meditation on this topic.

stages of grief have been outlined by Elizabeth Kubler Ross &

Many of you may be familiar with the first 5. Have you heard of the 6th stage? Finding Meaning.

We may experience these stages of grief whenever we experience any form of loss: a relationship, a job, moving away, even a change in belief.

When we experience loss we may ebb and flow between these first 5 stages. One day we feel depressed, the next we're in denial. It can be a huge rollercoaster of emotions.

Once we come to a place of acceptance, the 6th stage begins to take place: Finding Meaning after death.

It is so important to honor your grieving process. There is no manual on how to grieve - how long it's supposed to take, when and how you're supposed to do it. Give yourself the space and permission to grieve, however that comes up for you.

If you'd like a meditation on grief, I released a new episode this pass Monday. I hope you find it supportive. ๐Ÿ’› www.anchor.fm/sacredgarden

This week I am thinking about grief - a response tp deep sorrow after a loss. Typically how we have grieved in the past will inform how we will grieve in the future.โ

I invite you to reflect, what does grief look like for you? What do you do, say or think? How do you feel, and how do you behave when you experience loss?โ

One day during a meditation, I saw myself walking through an open, white space. I came to a door, and with no prompting, I instinctively knew this was a doorway to my heart. Not the physical, blood-pumping sense of the word heart, but the access to the love that exists within the physical body. I opened the door to discover a vast, limitless garden - surrounded by luscious greenery and an abundance of flowers. I was instantly reminded that I am sacred. I was reminded how to love from the inside out, and to always be cultivating my sense of self.
