A reminder of the most important things in life can be seen in the smallest moments everyday. Raising a happy and healthy son who feels confident to express authenticity is a top priority. Today, I recognized a huge leap in growth for him, both on a mental health level and a physical level.

On a summer say when sunlight and blue sky are fighting for real estate and shade from a fence post is better than nothing, it may be best to move as little as possible. So, naturally, I found myself watching my son be his amazing self at a skatepark, testing his abilities on a halfpipe. As we both found ourselves dripping in sweat, I realized how lucky we are, how far he has come, and how much he has grown.

Sometimes the most uncomfortable moments can offer the most joy. Maybe it’s a matter of contrast, or maybe the absence of comfort forces a pause, and you look around to see where you are. In a world that moves so fast, pausing can lead to FOMO, but it is important to go with the flow and trust the timing of the universe.

Shame is heavy and offers an amazing opportunity for growth. In fact, shame is a symptom of a lesson waiting to be learned.

Helping someone through strong feelings of shame today was a great way to validate them by reinforcing that shame is the lack of meeting someone else’s perceived approval. Ideals, expectations, and opinions that are pushed onto us by others get in the way of authentic living.

Self-love, confidence, and walking away from toxic relationships all come together when healing the source of our shame. Being ashamed of a past decision is simply deep knowledge that we can improve ourselves any time.

We just never know what will be underneath after untangling the knot.

Everything I used to think about creative expression is wrong, and doing daily blocks validates what I’ve learned.

Sewing (or your favorite creative hobby/activity) can resolve uncomfortable moods without even trying. Imagine the outcome in a safe space with a trauma professional by your side. The possibilities are endless.

Today’s block came together with a single seam, after some playful folding and layering. I enjoy that I won’t know what it is until the project is complete.

Elevating your healing through creativity means never feeling the pressure of having to make a choice. When I am constructing therapy blocks, I let go and get excited about seeing what happens.

After completion, a recognizable emerged; decisions. Decisions are a part of life. Regardless of whether you are indecisive or overly decisive by nature, it’s actually control, in disguise. Indecision is fear of making the wrong choice, and being highly decisive can be a manifestation of the desire for control.

Either way, creative expression can bring it to the surface, where it is ready to be untangled.

Elevate your healing with creative expression. I guarantee three things: you never know what will happen, you don’t know what is going to be revealed, and you never end up where you think you will-or plan to be…No matter how far down your healing journey, there will always be more to learn.

There is no room for rules when it comes to creativity. If this were a client order or a piece for my shop, I would be intentional about squaring and perfecting it. Healing happens when you trust the process and let creativity take the drivers seat.
