Congratulations to our Robert M. Lawrence, M.D. First Resident Award winner, Dr. Brecken Esper! Dr. Esper is pictured here with last year's winner, Dr. Bethany Latten, and our program director, Dr. Suzie Karan. Meliora!

Dr. Lawrence, our first Anesthesiology Resident, was a knowledgeable and dedicated teacher and compassionate and competent physician, who upheld the highest personal ethical standards. He was a man of honesty, integrity who was highly respected by his colleagues. The Robert M. Lawrence, M.D. First Resident Award is bestowed annually to the CA‐2 resident who best displays the zeal, enthusiasm, integrity, and commitment to the specialty of Anesthesiology that Dr. Lawrence had throughout his career.

Our graduating class had their final Wellness event with one of our Nighthawks, Dr. Grimes! Of course, we had to take them to Dinosaur BBQ for a last taste of Rochester!

We are pleased to announce that we have been approved by the ABA for a 5-year combined anesthesiology and critical care medicine training pathway. This pathway will allow residents with interest in Critical Care Medicine earlier exposure to the field, early access to a CCM faculty mentor, and allow additional time to pursue a research projects that can span the duration of residency and the fellowship year.

National Hispanic Heritage Month started on September 15 and runs through October 15. Meet some of our residents as they share their heritage with us!

Hi everyone! My name is Monica and I am a CA-2 resident! I was born in Puerto Rico but grew up in Connecticut. My mom is Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 and my dad is Honduran 🇭🇳

I love everything about hispanic culture but I especially love the music! Out of all the amazing genres I love listening to reggaeton and my favorite artist is Bad Bunny 🐰

My favorite LatinX restaurant in Rochester is less of a restaurant and more of a bakery! It’s called Tu Amor Cakery and all of their food is heavenly! 🤤

I adopted my dog from Puerto Rico. Street dogs are called “satos” but to us she’s just Mia 🐶 (I might’ve named her after a Bad Bunny song)
