Community/group acupuncture hours will become available on a more regular schedule starting mid-July in the lower level of the clinic.👏
With this, I will be moving away from the sliding scale payment structure for private room sessions, so that it can be offered in the community acupuncture setting.
(Private sessions will move to a fixed rate)

Sliding scales work by allowing people to choose what they pay, based on need and personal finances. When I reviewed transactions made over the last few years, it was clear that the majority of transactions were chosen at the lowest point of the scale.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this- it is there for a reason!!
But it does tell me that there is a much higher need for accessibility to specialized care than I anticipated.
Unfortunately though, a sliding scale structure is only sustainable if the amounts chosen are spread more evenly across the scale.

SO it is finally time to officially open up the community acupuncture model. This model involves a larger and more open room, with less one-on-one time, and other people receiving treatment at the same time. The treatment stations will be semi-private with rice paper screens.
This allows for affordability AND sustainability because a higher volume of people can be reached.

It has always been my vision to have a mixed-model practice, I just haven’t had the right space for it.
Now with a finished lower-level, we have the necessary space.

I understand that this is a big change.
I want to make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone- this is not immediate. There will be a grandfathered-in amount of time for current patients, packages available, and financial hardship paperwork for those who need private sessions, but are having difficulty if there is a rise in cost from what they were paying.💗

Fun things coming in the new year; a dedicated space for ♨️Pelvic/Vaginal steams &
🌈Photobiomodulation/LED Light Therapy.

Both of these modalities are beneficial for SO many different women’s health concerns, including fertility support.
They can be used alongside acupuncture, or as stand-alone therapies.
For now, these therapies will continue to be used in our acupuncture treatment rooms.

We will also be opening community/group acupuncture hours in our newly finished community room🥰…..

Just wanted to share this!!
It sounds so incredible, and it’s happening at the office Saturday, December 17th 😍

I’m super excited about this. 🧘‍♂️🎄 In this event we'll be exploring elements of the holidays through the 5 senses in a completely unique and novel way.

While the experience is designed to be relaxing and a great way to de-stress, that's actually not the full intent.

The full intent is to identify elements of the season to be used as anchors to bring you into the present moment. The anchors are certainly useful for the stressful moments, but also the beautiful moments, and everything in between.

The goal - by using acupuncture, mindfulness, sound, light and scent - is to program in reminders to be present in *all* moments throughout the holidays.

Acupuncture: You don't have to get acupuncture to take part in the event, fully your call. Acupuncture is useful in the way that it regulates and calms the central nervous system, it also helps you to gain an awareness of the subtle sensations you're feeling in your body at any moment. A powerful anchor.

Mindfulness: Once the acupuncture is set, we'll begin the mindfulness aspect of the event. We'll start with a progressive body scan, observation of our breath, then take a brief guided look at the roles and patterns we tend to assume during the holidays and what types of sensations those trigger. We'll then explore and lean on our anchors to bring us back to the present moment.

Sound: You won't be hearing Christmas songs. You will be hearing elements of the holidays, in a completely new way (bells, etc). While not performed fully live, the soundscape will consist of original, immersive, atmospheric compositions intentionally synced with the lights and the event itself as it unfolds.

Light: We'll be using professional stage lighting in a very subtle and therapeutic way. You can expect slow, soothing, immersive washes of greens and reds which will be synced to the quadraphonic (4.0 surround) soundscape happening around you.

Scent: The olfactory system is powerful, it's the first cranial nerve for a reason. It's deeply, evolutionarily linked to our stress response system and survival feedback mechanisms. This is why certain scents can elicit strong memories and bring you fully into a memory of a past moment. At different points in the event, subtle scents will be sent into the air for you to establish as anchors (pine, cinnamon, frankincense, myrrh, etc.).

The event will take place in our Brighton, NY community classroom at .585 in zero gravity recliners.

Ovarian Reserve refers to the capacity of the o***y to produce follicles that are capable of fertilization. We are born with all the eggs for our lifetime; Our egg reserve declines with age, and is believed to be finite.

❌So NO, we are not going to be able to increase the number of eggs/primordial follicles that we have
👍But YES, we can improve ovarian and follicular health

THE NUMBER DOESN’T MATTER AS MUCH AS THE HEALTH OF THE FOLLICLES THEMSELVES!

❓So what is “increasing ovarian reserve”?
When we work to “increase” reserve, what we aim to do is improve ovarian and follicular health, so that we can increase the number of developing follicles available for stimulation. By improving the environment in the ovaries, the follicles can be healthy enough to result in mature eggs capable of fertilization, implantation, and a healthy baby

What are some ways we can do this?

✨New Clinic Vibes✨
You might notice these signs poppin up! We’ve been working on identifying the space so that it represents our collective vision and pride in serving the Rochester community in an accessible way😊

Everything, including online booking, can still be found on the current website, none of that is changing;
There will just be additional website/socials representing the clinic and all the goings-ons; private sessions, community acupuncture, yoga, qi gong, meditation, events, workshops, etc.

Monday: 10am - 2pm
Tuesday: 2pm - 6:30pm
Wednesday: 10am - 2pm
Thursday: 2pm - 6:30pm
Friday: 12pm - 5:30pm

5 days/week, but shorter shifts.💃
This will hopefully allow the space to add slots and get waitlisted people in, and allow for more optimal treatment timing within cycles, without sacrificing lunch and work-life balance 😬 Hopefully a win-win!

I’m also super excited to be starting up another continuing education program this winter, on early afternoon Tuesdays, and this change allows the space to do it.

PRICING UPDATE:
Hi!! Just wanted to keep everybody in the loop. As many of you know, keeping my services as accessible as possible is very important to me.

I haven’t increased prices since I started my practice 6 years ago. I actually lowered them a couple of years ago to significantly below the average cost of acupuncture in Rochester in attempt to be as accessible as possible. I did this because I know the financial burden of fertility treatments.

Accessibility as part of my mission hasn’t changed, however that has to be balanced with the reality of overhead and sustainability.

In the spirit of full transparency, I would love to explain why these changes are happening — my sliding-scale structure operates like a non-profit, but at this time, I don’t get the “perks”, donations, and tax-breaks of being an official non-profit organization.

I have also significantly increased overhead with my clinic relocation last November, and have very high student loan debt (think Western medical doctor high 😑). I also spend a considerable amount of time and money on continuing education to remain at the forefront of my speciality. Considering those factors, and the rising cost of everything, I hope you can understand.
I’m still doing the sliding scale, just sliding the low end up a little!

So, beginning October 15th:
Acupunture: $55-85 sliding scale
• For reference, the fixed cost for a follow-up session with a non-specialist in Rochester ranges from $70-120
• In a group setting, community acupuncture in recliners has a sliding scale of $30-60

Pelvic steams:
• As an add on to an acupuncture session: $35
• As a standalone therapy: $50

Herbs & Supplements: I’ve been selling herbs and supplements at cost and in some cases at a loss when factoring in shipping, processing, bottling, etc. Prices may increase slightly on a case-by-case basis to account for this, but I will continue to try to make them as affordable as possible.

I will also be sticking to the current cancellation and no-show polices that I have, but do not adhere to 😬:
• $25 late cancellation (less than 24 hours)
• $45 no-call no-show

If these increases are not feasible for you, I get it, talk to me about it! I’m willing to open up an extended hardship sliding scale that reflects the old pricing structure, then we can re-assess every 6 months.
We will also be having community acupuncture hours available soon to help bridge the gap.
These sessions will be in a group room, where there may be others receiving treatments at the same time, to allow for greater accessibility and affordability. 💗

🧘‍♀️Restorative yoga: a very gentle, passive, and relaxing set of poses will be held for longer periods of time than exercise yoga, using plenty of props for support. This soothes the body and mind to promote relaxation. (No experience required!)

📍Acupuncture: points will be selected to calm the nervous system and promote rest

Back in town after an adventure-filled week in Colorado🏔☀️

Wanted to take a sec to introduce this guy, to you guys!
Starting this week, you’ll be seeing him around!
Dr. Shamus Clancey will be joining the new space👍

Though I am certainly biased, that doesn’t change the fact that he is the best!
We’ve known each other since we started acupuncture school; He is super kind and will be such a complement to the clinic!

He is clinically focused in:
•fertility optimization
•men’s health and male factor infertility
•pain management
•stress management

He’ll be in the clinic Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays, and every other Saturday.

Big News!!
It has come time for my little clinic to expand!🥰
I so much appreciate everyone’s input along the way- I tried to choose a place that not only had what I needed, but was as centrally located as possible

My new home will be at 1655 Elmwood Ave, in a lovely office park, starting November 1st!

I guess I’ll be taking full advantage of this season’s energy of transformation, and fully embracing its intensity😱😍

I know it is a little short notice, but some things have shifted, and it’s time!
