There's been a lot of buzz around AI in healthcare. In her most recent newsletter for Second Opinion Media, Christina Farr points to a statistic showing that at least 2/3 VC dollars has flowed into healthcare AI of some sort. Chrissy rightfully raises the question around sustainability of the valuations we're seeing now, in terms of the ability to exit at the billion-dollar valuations that will be required, and sustain that post IPO.
I've also seen increasing debate (and I think there should be), on companies building LLM wrappers - what's really the sustainable competitive moat for these entities? Time will tell, but I believe the historical trends around hype cycles are a cautionary tale for both founders and investors.
No hype cycles at HCO. We've been quietly building, as is our wont, a meaningful solution for people with asthma and COPD. What's been clear to us all along, is that we have truly unique data and insights, not only around deep organ sounds, but also around the prompts that we give based on our proprietary insights - prompts that spur action, adherence and better, sustained outcomes. In short, we have a proprietary, multi-model data set that allows for development of a true AI agent.
In a series of coming posts, I'm going to be sharing more about our AI agent. We're also hosting a webinar on July 30 (12–1 PM ET) where we’ll take you deeper into the AI behind our platform, and answer your questions live:

But first, an important distinction for us. I will not be the CEO that says "we're replacing humans with AI".
In healthcare, empathy isn’t optional.
I believe the future isn’t AI OR humans. Instead, it’s AI FOR humans.
At Health Care Originals®, we’re developing an AI agent that listens for early signs of respiratory distress and delivers short, effective support; grounded in behavioral science and real-world outcomes.
It's trained on proprietary data from our wearable tech and the self-management coaching that’s already helping patients avoid the ER.
AI doesn’t replace the human touch. We believe it protects the human touch - saving our Respiratory Therapists from repetitive tasks that are not the best use of their time, talent and energy.
