I’ve been putting off making this post because I wasn’t quite sure what to say. In September I developed a dry hacky cough. I progressively got short of breath, went to the doctor multiple times and was treated for atypical Pneumonia. I didn’t feel better so I went to the ER where they found a mass in my lung as well as fluid around my heart and in the lining of my lung. The fluid was drained from my heart and lung and was sent for cytology and they diagnosed me with Adenocarcinoma with mets to my aorta, lymph nodes, abdomen, liver, and a small one to my brain which is stage 4. Since I’ve never done any of the fun things like smoke or v**e 😆 the oncologist is 90% sure it is a gene mutation which can be treated/ managed with pills that only attack the cancer. It takes about 6 weeks to get the genetic testing back so in the mean time I am starting chemo and immunotherapy this morning until I can hopefully start targeted gene therapy. Yesterday I had a MRI of my spine, another thoracentesis where they drained almost 1300ml of fluid off my lung again and another echocardiogram to see if there is more fluid around my heart. I am so blessed to have such wonderful coworkers, friends, and family who have been taking care of us, sending gifts, checking in, and making sure I got the best medical care possible. I can’t say thank you enough. 💜 This morning as I go in I am reminding myself of Philippians 4:6-8 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, Brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. We will get through this 💪🕊️ 🙏🏻 Please pray for minimal side effects and that it is a genetic mutation. I’ll keep you all updated, Love y’all!
