Happy International Homebirth day!

I've had two of my four children at home and it was absolutely wonderful! I wish and hope for a beautiful intervention free home birth to every women who wants one! 🙏

On June 6th we celebrate International Homebirth Day. We celebrate the midwives who support birth at home, gently and safely and with quiet joy. We acknowledge and honor the Grand/Granny midwives and their foundational contributions to midwifery in the U.S. We celebrate the doulas who provide emotional support and hands-on comfort, reset the home, and leave only after everyone is tucked in bed with everything they need at arms reach. We celebrate the parents who bring babies into their arms at home, who sway and moan and celebrate in their own safe haven. And, finally, we celebrate the babies who make their way into the world in the space they’ll come to know as home.

This is a wonderful explanation of what BAA is and the difference between aversion and DMER. When I was pregnant I experienced a need to push away my toddler while breastfeeding and I didn't understand why. Well it turns out that this is more common then we women realize , is completely natural, and we are not alone!

Breastfeeding aversion is when negative emotions & feelings are triggered during a breastfeeding session. The emotions can span from irritability & frustration to rage or disgust.

Thank You for Attending Our Monthly Village Prenatal Gathering!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at our recent Village Prenatal Gathering! It was a beautiful day filled with learning, connection, and building community.

During our gathering, we shared some amazing resources to support you on your journey. While we're not medical providers, we did offer a variety of items you could use yourself, including our double-ended fetoscope, which can help listen to fetal heartbeats as early as 20 weeks!

One of our trained doulas also taught how to use a Bengkung Belly wrap—a traditional method used postpartum to help restore the body, shrink the uterus, and bring abdominal muscles back together. Did you know it can also be used prenatally to support the weight of the belly and ease back pain?

In addition to belly wrapping, our team provided birthing aids like peanut and birthing balls, a pelvis model, and multiple baby-wearing carriers for everyone to try and learn about. It was all about hands-on learning and connecting families with the tools they need for a smoother journey.

We are beyond excited to continue hosting these gatherings, where families can come together, talk openly about the hard stuff, and find their village of support. We believe in empowering you with information, consent, and options so you can make the best decisions for you and your growing family.

At Stateline Birth Keepers, we’re here for every step of your journey!

Creating a Comfortable Birth Environment

Feeling comfortable and relaxed during labor is so important. The environment you give birth in can greatly influence your overall experience, affecting your ability to stay calm, focused, and in tune with your body.

When you create a space that feels safe and nurturing, you’re more likely to have a positive birth experience. Comfort allows you to relax, trust your instincts, and connect with the process of bringing your baby into the world.

Remember, your birth environment should reflect what makes you feel at ease. Whether it’s dim lighting, familiar scents, or a favorite blanket, every detail matters. Take the time to craft a space that supports your journey into motherhood.

At Stateline Birth Keepers, we’re here to help you every step of the way, ensuring your birth environment is as supportive and empowering as possible.

Breastfeeding is a beautiful and natural way to nourish your baby, but sometimes, concerns about milk supply can arise. Understanding the potential causes of low milk supply can help you address and overcome these challenges.

Here are some common factors that can impact milk supply:

Infrequent Nursing or Pumping: Breastfeeding works on a supply-and-demand basis. The more you nurse or pump, the more milk your body produces.

Poor Latch: An improper latch can prevent your baby from effectively removing milk, signaling your body to produce less.

Stress and Fatigue: High stress levels and lack of sleep can affect your milk production. Prioritizing self-care and rest is crucial.

Certain Medications: Some medications can interfere with milk production. Always check with your healthcare provider.

Hormonal Imbalances: Conditions like thyroid issues or PCOS can impact your milk supply. Consult with your healthcare provider if you suspect this.

Dehydration and Poor Nutrition: Staying hydrated and maintaining a balanced diet are essential for adequate milk production.

At Stateline Birth Keepers, we provide comprehensive support for breastfeeding families, offering guidance and resources to help you navigate any challenges you might face. If you have concerns about your milk supply or need personalized advice, reach out to us!
