🌊 *Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea* 🐠
We dove into ocean-themed fun—exploring sea creatures, sequencing our story, and building communication skills through hands on learning! 🌟🦀🐳

☀️ *Week 3: Beach Bash!* 🐚

From sandy shores to soaring rocket balloons, our Bigs & Littles had a splash-tastic time during this week’s beach-themed class!

🏖 We kicked things off by exploring summer vocabulary as a pre-reading activity by matching it to our story of the day: *There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shell*. Students took turns feeding the old lady (a class favorite!) and sequenced the silly story using our story maps.

🍉 After reading, we answered yes/no questions and talked about the *functions* of fun summer items like watermelon, beach balls, and popsicles.

👓 In breakout groups, we sorted beach vocabulary into what we *wear*, what we *see*, and what we *do* at the beach.

🎨 We got creative with foam crafts and even made our own *Old Lady* puppets!

🎈We wrapped up the day launching and catching rocket balloons—language, movement, and laughter all in one!

This week, our Bigs & Littles explored the world of *The Very Hungry Caterpillar* as we:

📖 Sequenced parts of the story
🕸️ Saved bugs trapped in our sticky spiderweb
🗺️ Identified and matched bugs on our bug map
🍎 Sorted bugs vs. food into our bug jars
🦋 Followed directions and explored textures while making our own butterfly snack with a visual recipe!

Each hands-on activity supported language, play, and early learning in a meaningful way 💬✨

We kicked off our first session with sweet, fun, and serious learning! 🍦

📚 We read The Little Ice Cream Truck and practiced recalling and sequencing the story. 🍧 We sorted scoops into bowls by category—foods, toys, and clothing! 🌈 We practiced color identification with our ice cream cones.  ✏️ We built our visual-spatial awareness and fine motor skills through tracing tasks. 🕶️ Used our senses and inferencing skills while working on object functions with summer themed vocabulary. 👑 Followed directions and worked on basic concepts while creating our ice cream sundae crowns & designing our own ice cream truck. 🫧 Finished strong with an obstacle course and—of course—bubbles!

Here’s to a summer full of connection, communication, and PLAY! ☀️🍨✨

A huge shout out to our friend for creating this amazing lucky charms cereal bowl resource! Our littles LOVED it!

We worked on expanding MLU, tacting nouns and verbs, object function, and even turn taking skills while using rote phrases like “it’s your turn!” or “here you go!” as we passed a lucky charm to our friends 🌈🍀🦄🎈💫
