How have we arrived at this moment? Let me provide some context. Early on, I made a commitment to myself to help others in a profound way. This led me to become a Registered Nurse, which has enabled me to explore various avenues for making a positive impact. Throughout my career, I have navigated a range of specialties, from pediatrics and family practice to urgent care, forensics, medical/surgical, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, cardiac, emergency care, and currently, hospice, where I work as a Registered Nurse with certifications as a Death and End of Life Doula. Despite the diversity of my experience, I have consistently identified a gap in holistic care. My goal is to address this by adopting a more comprehensive approach that considers an individual's physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Traditionally, our emphasis has been on addressing specific health issues, sometimes at the expense of the mind and soul, due to our focus on tasks. Going forward, whether we are focused on prevention to end-of-life care, we will strive to integrate a broader wellness spectrum that prioritizes mind, body, and soul holism.
