John R. McAteer, LCSW R John R. McAteer, LCSW-R It has always been my passion to aid in the healing of all involved.

As a therapist with 18 years of experience in the field of addiction, I’ve witnessed how mental health and addictions can affect individuals, families, social systems and environments. As an undergraduate at Adelphi University, I studied the psychology of early childhood development. I then earned a masters degree from Columbia University in social work with a concentration in concentration in family and mental health counseling. Working in the field of mental health and addictions has also exposed me to Eastern philosophies and Jungian psychology. My education, life experiences, and working in the field have all inspired me to work with all mental health issues as well as adolescents and their families. I make every effort to help my clients feel as comfortable as possible. I bring compassion, insight, and an informed perspective on issues…all in a relaxed and casual manner. Expect nothing less than professionalism and ethical treatment as we set out on the path to your recovery.

The end of one year and the beginning of another always gets me in a reflective mood; thinking about what has been and what is yet to come.
