Our members care for thousands of patients whose underlying medical condition affect oral health and delivery of dental care. We advocate for optimal oral health and healthcare for everyone with medical illness. Founded in 1945, AAOM offers credentialing, resources and professional community for oral medicine practitioners. CODA Update
The OMRC met recently to review compliance, accreditation standards, and policy updates for advanced oral medicine education.
• No non-compliance was found among four programs under the 2019 standards.
• The new 2024 standards had not yet been applied to any site visits; data will remain confidential until four programs are evaluated.
• The committee endorsed editorial updates to evidence requirements reflecting recent CMS changes and urged immediate adoption.
• Ongoing monitoring and annual reporting will continue with the new standards.
Dr. Andres Pinto will become OMRC Chair after the Summer 2025 CODA meeting. The committee remains focused on maintaining standards and adapting to evolving policies.
