In 2022, I’m saying bye-bye to burn-out. ✌🏾
Just a little background on the photo above: In March 2015, I was burned all the way out to the point of tears. Like, hair thinning, edges gone, no energy to take care of myself so I had on this hat to cover it all up. (This is when i started my own healthy hair journey)
I met the lovely Tabatha Coffey at the Brand Building Beauty Expo in Silver Spring, MD. A woman stood up after Tabatha’s motivating speech and asked for her advice regarding being burned out. I related to this woman very much who was a salon owner with a hard time saying no, and because of it was losing her business and her peace.
I burst into tears after hearing Tabatha’s response, which was along the lines of: “There’s a reason why when you’re on an airplane they tell you in case of emergency, before helping anyone else, YOU MUST PUT YOUR OXYGEN MASK ON FIRST.” Wow.
When I got to thank Tabatha personally, right before taking the photo, she hugged me so tightly and told me to make sure I take care of myself before anything else. If not, I won’t be able to help others the way I need to.
That was such a turning point in my life! And part of the reason I took such a long break from being behind the chair. I say all of this to say…..
Put. Your. Oxygen. Mask. On. First.
Love you 💕
