It’s time to take a deep breath and relax those shoulders!

The real success — the kind you can live with long after you crush your goals — comes when you choose the simple wins… and keep choosing them every day!

Like:

There’s a myth that being healthy has to look like…

✅ Meal prep every Sunday
✅ 5 workouts a week
✅ Cutting out sugar, carbs, and anything remotely fun

But that version of “health” isn’t realistic for most people over the long term…

And (spoiler alert!) you don’t have to live like that in order to feel amazing.

What if sophisticated actually meant… simple?

Things like:

💡 Going to bed early enough to get 7-8 solid hours of sleep.
💡 Tracking your NON-workout activity to make sure you’re not just active during your workouts.”
💡 Rereading your goals and positive affirmations at least once a week to stay focused.

These habits might not look flashy on the outside…

But they’re foundational. And they help you stay consistent — without burning out.

Simple isn’t just sustainable… it’s smart!

I used to roll my eyes when people told me to:

❌ Eat more protein at breakfast.

I mean… does it really REALLY make that big a difference?!

But one day, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. You know, in the spirit of being open-minded.

And guess what?

💡 My energy felt even all morning.
💡 And I wasn’t staring at the clock, waiting for lunchtime so I could eat.”]

Now? It’s a baked-in part of my everyday routine! I don’t even have to think about it.

Funny how the habit I resisted made such a big difference, right?

When Rachel first reached out, she had one goal in mind:

👉 Lose 10 pounds and avoid going on blood pressure medication.

But somewhere along the way, she realized the real win wasn’t about the number on the scale...

My Story

My triathlon journey started in 2007 after my daughter passed away unexpectedly. Like many, racing my first sprint triathlon was a monster of a goal then, and it gave me a sense of control in a world that seemed completely random. Pouring myself into the sport, I joined my local tri club and jumped into the deep-end. The following year I signed up for my first 70.3 and eventually went on to race eight full distance Ironman races in eight years.

Giving back to others who want to know how to race is important to me, and my goal on this page is help you find some useful tips to help you on your triathlon journey. So regardless if you’re a 20 year-old age-grouper just starting out, or you’re a seasoned veteran like me, you can explore ideas on this page to get the most enjoyment out of the sport that I love so much.
