MBSR for Health and Wellbeing

MBSR for Health and Wellbeing Mindfulness training for your real life and what matters to you.

Mindfulness IRL offers MBSR courses for people living with Autoimmune Disease, Long Covid and Chronic Pain. MBSR is an evidence based 8 week training to reduce the impact of stress on serious illness and/or chronic pain. Mindfulness practice trains you to relate to discomfort, fatigue and fear, with acceptance, curiosity and compassion, reduces suffering, and opens the door to your body's own innate ability to heal itself.

Just wrapped up the 8-week winter cohort of MBSR for Mental Health Professionals and Certified Health Coaches (24 CEUs)!

Here are a few nuggets of feedback from participants:

🧘‍♀️ "It has been a great experience to be in a weekly class that reminds me of being present and to return to the moment. Having planned meditation times has been incredibly helpful in setting the tone for the day and for the week."

🧘‍♀️ "The encouragement to slow down, to take whatever comes in the moment as it comes, and to just be, without judgment, has been such a unique space and very welcome (though also difficult at times!) experience."

🧘‍♀️ "I have noticed a significant change in how calm I regularly am now compared to when starting the course. I feel like I am not as affected by stressors and feel like I'm able to see things more clearly and slow down in my life."

Do you want in on this? The spring cohort starts April 7 and registration is open! Link to register in comments!

Is it resistance, or is it momentum?

It comes up over and over in my classes "I want to slow down, pause, find some ease, but I just can't seem to make myself do it."

And I have to admit, even after many years and many hours of practice, even when I have the space cleared on my calendar - I still sometimes notice a subtle but powerful something that feels like resistance when it's time to stop doing and simply allow myself to just be.

But it's not resistance. It's not that I don't want to hit the pause button, or that anything is in the way of doing so.

I love it and get so much out of it every single time, so honestly, what is there to resist? Why does it still feel like swimming upstream some of the time?

Because it IS swimming upstream - against a current with massive momentum - the momentum of lifetime of striving and trying to get somewhere or make something happen; the momentum of the pervasive message that if I'm not being productive, I'm not worthy; and the momentum of a lifelong habit of paying way more attention to what I'm doing than to how I'm being.

There are three things that help curb the momentum of that current and make it way easier to pause and just be

* Guidance
* Structure
* Community

Join me and other busy professionals for a free, 20m guided PAUSE for all 3.

Wednesdays from 12:00 - 12:20CST

Put it on your calendar. Show up and get the guidance, structure and community you need to create momentum in the direction of ease and flow and being.

Mindfulness is everywhere — in apps, therapy, and self-care talk — I even saw “Mindful Mayonnaise” at the co-op the other day! So it’s easy to dismiss as a fad, a simple tool or just a buzzword.

But that’s only because depth is missing.

In addition to facilitating MBSR with Mental Health Professionals, I teach in clinical settings, like the Minnesota S*x Offender’s Program, where mindfulness is not about zoning out, or simply calming down. It’s about waking up to the thoughts, sensations and emotions that govern our lives as they are happening, with curiosity and compassion.

It’s a tall order. It takes time and practice. It’s SO worth it.

When mindfulness is learned, practiced and applied consistently, over time in the context of an evidence-based course with a qualified professional instructor, it becomes a tool for attunement, self-regulation and resilience.

Get some relief and a little taste of what mindfulness beyond the buzzwords can offer you with a FREE Mindful Foundations for Mental Health Professionals Mini-Course.
