Most people think aging starts later in life.
But according to Dr. Nayan Patel, one of the earliest shifts begins around age 28–30 — when oxidative stress markers begin rising and glutathione levels start declining.
That matters because oxidative stress is linked to:
• Cardiovascular disease
• Inflammation
• Cellular aging
• Immune dysfunction
• Metabolic decline
In this episode of Own Your Heart Health, we break down:
Why oxidative stress matters, what glutathione actually does inside the body, and the everyday habits that may be accelerating aging faster than you realize.

It’s about not getting sick sooner than you should.”
In this powerful conversation with Dr. Nayan Patel, we discuss:
• Why oxidative stress may be the hidden driver behind many chronic diseases
• How your body naturally protects itself
• Why glutathione is called the “master antioxidant”
• And what simple daily habits may help preserve long-term health

Most people wait for symptoms before they start paying attention to their health.
But according to Dr. Nayan Patel, many of the processes linked to aging and chronic disease begin quietly — years before anything appears on standard labs.
In this episode of Own Your Heart Health, we discuss:
• Oxidative stress and cellular aging
• Why glutathione is critical for resilience and recovery
• The relationship between inflammation and long-term disease risk
• How modern lifestyles may deplete the body’s protective systems
• Why prevention should start earlier than most people think
The goal of longevity isn’t simply to live longer.
It’s to maintain energy, clarity, strength, and health for as long as possible.

The future of medicine isn’t reactive.
It’s predictive.
In this episode of Own Your Heart Health, Dr. Regina Druz speaks with Dr. David Furman, a leading researcher in longevity science, about how we can identify risk years before disease develops.
Through advancements in:
• Immune system aging
• Proteomics
• Biological age testing
We’re beginning to understand that aging isn’t just about time—
it’s about what’s happening at the cellular level.
And the most important part?
It’s modifiable.

Another “healthy” person… gone from a sudden cardiac event.
This time, it was Patrick Muldoon.
57 years old.
And unfortunately—this isn’t rare.
👉 50% of all cardiac deaths are sudden
👉 250,000–500,000 lives lost every year
No warning. No second chance.
Here’s the part most people miss:
You cannot out-diet heart disease.
You cannot out-exercise it.
You cannot out-supplement it.
Those things matter—but they’re not enough.
Because heart disease isn’t linear.
Two people can look equally “healthy”…
and have completely different vascular realities.
It comes down to:
• Arterial stiffness
• Blood pressure trends (even borderline)
• Metabolic health
• Genetics
• Toxic exposures
• Endothelial health (your vascular lining)
👉 Longevity is vascular.
You can look great on the outside…
and still be on a fast track internally.
The good news?
We actually have the tools to see this early:
✔️ Vascular imaging
✔️ Advanced labs + genetics
✔️ Metabolic assessments
✔️ Plaque detection before events happen
But most people aren’t being tested.
And most guidelines?
They’re the floor—not the ceiling.
Your health deserves more than “you’re fine… for now.”

What if your labs look normal…
but your biology is telling a different story?
In this episode, Dr. Regina Druz is joined by Dr. David Furman, whose research is redefining how we measure aging and disease risk.
You can have:
✔️ Normal cholesterol
✔️ Normal CRP
✔️ No symptoms
And still have underlying inflammation driving long-term risk.
Together, they break down:
• The difference between acute vs. chronic inflammation
• Why common biomarkers miss the full picture
• How new testing is changing prevention
Because the goal isn’t just to be “within range.”
It’s to understand what’s actually happening.

You can feel completely fine…
and still be aging faster than you think.
In this episode of Own Your Heart Health, Dr. Regina Druz sits down with Dr. David Furman, longevity researcher and expert in immune system aging, to unpack a powerful truth:
Most cardiovascular and brain-related diseases don’t start with symptoms.
They start with silent inflammation—
often years (or decades) before anything shows up in standard labs.
This is why “normal” results don’t always mean low risk.
In this conversation, we explore:
• Why traditional markers can miss early dysfunction
• How the immune system drives aging
• What actually predicts long-term health outcomes
Because prevention isn’t about reacting.
It’s about understanding what’s happening early.

What if the future of longevity is not about doing more — but about signaling the body to function better?
That is one of the ideas behind regenerative medicine.
In this week’s podcast, Dr. Jeff Gross and I talk about stem cells, exosomes, inflammation, HRV, recovery, and the role these therapies may play in a more advanced model of health optimization.
This is not about replacing traditional medicine.
It is about expanding the conversation.

Cells communicate.
They send signals.
And those signals may influence healing, inflammation, and recovery in ways we are only beginning to understand.
In my latest episode with Dr. Jeff Gross, we explored one of the most fascinating concepts in regenerative medicine: exosomes.
These extracellular vesicles may help deliver biologic messages that support cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and improve function — whether locally or systemically.
It is a rapidly evolving area of medicine, and one that deserves thoughtful discussion rather than hype.

Regenerative medicine is one of the most talked-about areas in longevity right now — but what does it actually mean?
In this week’s episode of Own Your Heart Health, I sat down with Dr. Jeffrey Gross to unpack stem cells, exosomes, peptides, and the role they may play in healing, recovery, and long-term function.
One of the most important points from our conversation: these therapies do not replace the basics. Lifestyle, inflammation control, nutrition, sleep, and metabolic health still come first.
But once the terrain is optimized, regenerative tools may offer another layer of support.
If you want to better understand how this space is evolving, this is a conversation worth hearing.

This week on Own Your Heart Health, I’m joined by functional medicine physician Dr. Cynthia Libert to unpack what’s really driving cognitive decline risk in modern life—and why the same root causes show up in cardiovascular disease, too.
We talk about:
✨ Inflammation + infections
✨ Insulin resistance / blood sugar swings
✨ Nutrient + hormone deficiencies
✨ Environmental toxins
✨ Vascular contributors
✨ Trauma + chronic stress
And the biggest theme? Prevention has to be livable.
Not a 40-step checklist. Not fear-based. Not “perfect.” Just consistent.

I’ve been listening to Mel Robbins’ Let Them Theory, and it made me reflect on something I encounter often in practice.
There are moments when patients prefer to avoid medication — even when their cardiovascular risk is accelerating.
Recently, I saw a 60-year-old man whose lipid panel looked “reasonable.” Nothing alarming at first glance.
But when we evaluated his imaging, the story changed.
His calcium score was elevated.
Soft plaque was present.
His vascular age was 80 — twenty years older than his chronological age.
When we modeled his data using HeartWell AI, his projected 10-year risk of a major cardiac event — heart attack, stroke, or cardiac death — exceeded 50%.
That is not a slow burn.
That is an active fire.
In those moments, prevention is no longer theoretical.
It becomes urgent.
Yes, patients have autonomy.
And yes, lifestyle and root causes matter deeply.
But when vascular damage is advanced, we cannot pause to debate long-term terrain while the structure is burning.
Sometimes, the most responsible care is stepping in decisively — even when it’s uncomfortable.
What are your thoughts?

Heart disease kills 10x more women than breast cancer.
Yet most women screen annually for breast cancer…
And never assess their arteries.
If you’re 40+, ask yourself:
Have I screened my vascular health?
Coronary calcium score.
Carotid ultrasound.
Vascular age.
Inflammation markers.
Hormone decisions are best made with cardiovascular data in hand.

“Just don’t take hormones.”
You deserve more nuance than that.
Hormone therapy isn’t about symptom relief alone.
It’s about timing.
Formulation.
Vascular health.
Metabolic risk.
Inflammation.
Personal biology.
In our newest episode, Dr. Amy Killen and I discuss:
• Transdermal vs oral estrogen
• Progesterone’s calming and cardiovascular role
• Testosterone in women
• Why insulin resistance may matter more than cholesterol
The conversation around hormones has evolved.
Your understanding should too.

For 20 years, women were told:
Hormone therapy causes heart attacks.
But the data is more nuanced than that.
The original trial studied synthetic oral hormones — often started more than 10 years after menopause.
That matters.
In this week’s episode, I sit down with Dr. Amy Killen to unpack:
• Why timing changes outcomes
• Why delivery method matters
• What newer data shows
• And how to personalize risk
Hormones aren’t one-size-fits-all.

If you’re waiting for symptoms, you’re late — especially in midlife.
The perimenopause/menopause window is one of the biggest prevention opportunities we have… and it’s not just about hormones.

Heart disease doesn’t start with a heart attack.
Breast cancer doesn’t start with a lump.
For many women, the real story begins earlier — during perimenopause — when biology starts shifting quietly under the surface.
Here are the 6 root drivers that connect heart disease + breast cancer risk in midlife:
Estrogen fluctuations (including dominance → depletion)
Chronic inflammation (inflammaging)
Oxidative stress
Immune dysregulation
Insulin resistance / metabolic syndrome
Environmental toxins / endocrine disruptors
Most routine screening doesn’t connect these dots — which is why so many women feel blindsided.
This year, let’s do prevention differently:
Not fear-based. Not vague. Data-driven and personalized.

I didn’t plan to start 2026 by sharing this… but I’m ready.
In late 2023, I walked into a “walk-in mammogram” center at the mall — mostly because I couldn’t remember when my last mammogram was. No family history. No genetic predisposition. No reason to think I was high-risk.
A few months later, I was diagnosed with DCIS + early stage invasive breast cancer.
I’m okay. I’m grateful. And I’m also changed — because this experience made one truth impossible to ignore:
The root drivers of heart disease are often the same drivers of breast cancer — especially in women during perimenopause and menopause.
In my first episode of 2026, I break down the 6 pillars I believe every woman should understand:
• estrogen shifts
• inflammation
• oxidative stress
• immune dysregulation
• insulin resistance
• environmental toxins
This isn’t about fear.
It’s about agency.
Because these patterns are measurable — and modifiable.

One of the hardest parts of modern medicine right now?
Promise isn’t proof.
Take CGMs (continuous glucose monitors).
They’re game-changing for diabetes—and now they’re everywhere in the “optimization” world too.
But here’s the nuance:
Just because a tool generates data doesn’t automatically mean we have clarity on:
who it helps most
how to interpret it in context
what actions actually improve outcomes
In this episode, Dr. Sanjeev Bhavnani and I unpack how to think about emerging tools with curiosity + responsibility—so we don’t swing into hype OR fear.

In this week’s episode, I talk with Dr. Sanjeev Bhavnani about what’s actually happening behind the scenes in healthcare innovation—and why the “AI everywhere” narrative doesn’t match reality yet.
One of the most important points:
Just because tools exist doesn’t mean they’re being used in real workflows.
So how do we move from hype → usefulness?
We anchor on three non-negotiables:
Responsible use
Performance in the real world
Equitable access
Because if we get this right, AI becomes part of the care process—not another shiny object draining time and budget.
