🚨 Public Safety Alert: Lock Up Your Medications 🚨

With yesterday’s overdose scare at the daycare, our community received a powerful reminder: Medications—whether prescription or over-the-counter—must be secured at all times.

Kids are quick, curious, and unaware of the risks. It only takes one moment for a tragedy to occur.

🔐 Protect your home. Protect our children.
Here’s what you can do today:
✔️ Store all medications in a locked cabinet, drawer, or lockbox
✔️ Keep meds out of sight and out of reach
✔️ Never leave purses, backpacks, or pill organizers where children can access them
✔️ Safely dispose of unused or expired medications at approved drop-off sites
✔️ Talk with friends, family, babysitters, and caregivers about medication safety

This scare could have ended much worse—and it is a reminder that prevention starts at home.

❤️ Let’s work together to keep every child safe. Lock your meds.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation is seeking public input to guide its first-ever Active Transportation Plan for improvements for pedestrians and bicyclists on state-managed highways, which include both state and federal routes. Such thoroughfares in and around Roswell include U.S. 285 Relief Route, U.S. 380 and U.S. 70, as well as N.M. 246 (West Pine Lodge Road) and N.M. 256 (North Atkinson Avenue).

Strengthening Our Community Through Safe, Affordable Housing

Stable housing is one of the strongest predictors of good health, and too many families in Chaves County are feeling the strain of high rents, limited options, and aging homes in need of repair. That’s why we’re spotlighting an inspiring New Mexico initiative that’s turning the tide. The Rehab-2-Rental program helps small landlords fix up neglected or vacant properties by offering modest, accessible loans—creating safe, affordable rentals that families can move into right away.

This approach is already expanding housing options across the state, and it offers real promise for rural communities like ours. We encourage you to read this uplifting story and learn how creative, community-driven solutions can make a meaningful difference for our neighbors and our local housing landscape.

By making small loans to landlords who can't access traditional finance, Rehab-2-Rental gets houses fixed up and occupied.

Protege a tu familia. Protege tu futuro.
No manejes bajo los efectos del alcohol, ni siquiera “poquito.”

Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving — Don’t Risk It This Holiday Season

The holidays are a time for family, food, and celebrating safely. Even a couple of drinks can slow your reaction time and put the people you love at risk.

Fellas—if you’re heading out to enjoy time with friends or family, make a plan before you drink. Your loved ones are counting on you to get home safely.

This season, choose a sober ride. Protect your family. Protect your future.
Don’t drive buzzed.
