As we approach the 15th anniversary of ShamRockin' for a Cure, I am constantly reminded of the profound impact that Jon had on our journey. Two years without his guiding voice, yet Jon's spirit resonates in every heartbeat of our cause, every committee meeting and every decision we make.

Jon's legacy inspires us to celebrate not just 15 years of Sham, but 15 years of hope, progress, and unwavering dedication. With gratitude for the incredible community that has rallied behind us, we aim to raise $65,000 in honor of Jon's memory. No matter what iteration of the Baker Boys' Battalion you’ve supported, we hope you’ll come alongside us again this year by attending or sponsoring Shamrockin' For a Cure or by making a direct donation if you aren't able to attend.

Let’s make this 15th year a momentous occasion, echoing with the promise of a brighter, CF-free future—a future that Jon envisioned for not only Gavin and Jake, but for all those living with cf.

Thank you for being an enduring part of our journey, and for helping us fulfill Jon's promise to never stop until a cure is found.

Our hopes of first football games, girlfriends, graduations and grandchildren turned to a future ful...

Our Latest Journey

On September 26th, Jon started having some pretty constant, severe headaches. The headaches would not go away despite advil, tylenol and even a prednisone prescription for a sinus infection (which he didn’t actually have). On Monday, October 1st, Jon decided to stop by the Northside Hospital ER on his way home from work for a quick scan just to see if anything funky was going on. Well...there was definitely something funky - a CT scan showed some abnormalities and an MRI showed a golf ball sized mass. We had a neuro consult on Tuesday followed by a second opinion at Emory on Wednesday - both of whom said it needed to be removed sooner rather than later so we would know what was really going on. On October 8th (yesterday), Jon underwent a craniotomy to remove the tumor after which, the doctor confirmed that his suspicions were correct. That was the moment that our deepest fears became our new reality...the tumor was glioblastoma. And so we begin yet another fight to save yet another Baker boy.
