As a former researcher, I love sharing science factoids! 👩‍🔬
The pace at which cells renewal varies by type. Red blood cells last about 4 months while skin cells have a life span of 3 weeks.
In a study on longevity, scientists suggest that on average, about 1% of your cells are replaced each day.
If you envision yourself and your cells in this way, your cells will renew 💯% by next season!
Is it a coincidence that research has found that it takes roughly the same time frame (3 months) to form a new habit or lifestyle change??
What is perhaps MORE interesting is that the pace of cell growth or decay is directly affected by your lifestyle.
Sedentary lifestyle = cell decay
Active lifestyle = cell renewal
⭐ And pioneers of the positive psychology field are beginning to find evidence that our emotions may also have an impact on our cell's health.
Yup, that's right.
Negativity = cell decay

Research has proven that many chronic diseases are caused by lifestyle choices. We can no longer ignore the impact of our day to day choices on our overall health and quality of life 🌿
We are often so busy and focused on our careers and families that our own selfcare and well-being gets pushed to the side ↪

What can you do to reduce your risk and not become part of the alarming statistics?
As a coach and allied health professional, I'm sharing several key steps you cam take to safeguard your health now and in the future:

✔ Proper nutrition with a balanced diet of fruits, veg, and lean proteins

✔ Regular physical activity- make exercise a priority in your daily routine

✔ Avoid drinking too much alcohol 🍷one drink max per day

✔ Get screened- ask your physician about cancer and prediabetes screening tests

✔ Aim for 7 hrs of sleep 💤😴 to reduce your risk of diabetes, depression, heart disease and obesity

Over the years, I've had the opportunity to hear the Dalai Lama speak in person on two occassions.
The first time was during his visit to Emory University back in 2008 and the second time was when I won a "lottery" and my husband and I were chosen to attend a small presentation with his holiness in 2012. The second meeting was particularly meaningful as we were expecting our first baby at the time🤰🐣
I remember both experiences vividly and the profound sense of peace and calm in the room was palpable!

For me, being with my family and friends and enjoying a simple hike in the woods or a backyard badminton game makes me happy🚶‍♀️⛰🥾🏸🏡

🤔 Did you know Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean back in 1932? 🛫 🌊
I can only imagine how terrifying yet exciting and rewarding that experience must have been!!!
Sometimes we can find ourselves on auto-pilot cruising through life in our comfort zone, stuck in an unsatifying routine.
Our brains 🧠 begin to develop an unconscious decision making system about what to eat 🥘, what to watch 🖥 or wear 👗 without putting in any thought.
Sound familiar??

Ideas can last forever. We've all had ideas that we haven't acted on from launching a new product, starting a business, or taking on a passion project.
When you're feeling inspired, it's important that you take action so your ideas don't just become another could-have-done it! 🌿

The difficulty often lies in not having a clear plan of how to get there while successfully juggling family + maintaining our health
